![]() I really do hope your pup gets better. This is a perfect example of how horrible pet stores are and puppy millers are.

![]() OK, another update. Just got off the phone with the wife at the vet and she just got done feeding him and sugar every 3 hours on his schedule and well the vet said his blood sugar was down to 30. So the Vet doesnt know, he is X-raing him and maybe gonna do some other tests. I told her to have him run a parvo test. So we shall see what happens.

![]() Yes, I have looked and read and read, and to be honest, there are a bunch of reasons why. So I have not the slightest of answers.

Remember when you asked if the if the coccidia could cause the hypoglycemia? I think it may....but now I'm inclined to believe there is something more to it than the coccidia. You can try starting another thread and title it....blood sugar keeps dropping...and see if anyone here has had experience like that. Sometimes posts get buried...or people don't realize a situation they've posted on previously...has changed.

![]() Most puppies from pet stores come from puppy mills..this is why everyone is so down on buying from pet stores..a good reputable breeder would never have to sell their puppies to pet stores..I'm sure you didn't know this..I did the same thing 10 years ago, but, fortunately, I was lucky, in that the one I bought was healthy, but later realized, even with papers that she wasn't purebred..One of the ladies in another forum I go too had to have her little yorkie put to sleep, he was just 3 years old..she had bought him from a pet store, even though he was their life, he was diagnosed with(I can't remember what it was called)..but, he would have spells, to where he couldn't even stand..it was so sad..the hardest thing she ever did was to have that little guy put down, but they couldn't let him live like he was..I really wish you would have found this forum before buying a puppy so you wouldn't be going through this..Everyone needs to work together to keep these pet stores from selling pups..this way we can help to close down the puppy mills...I just hope and pray this baby is okay, but, I would sure go after that pet store, and I would make them pay the vet bill...did you have a contract??

![]() Anyhow, The vet X-ray showed nothing. He rechecked for Coccidia and he still had it pretty heavy and bad. So the vet upped his dose. Vet also upped his food amount every three hours. He does not have parvo, or any others in the blood. He also had a high white blood count. The Vet doesnt know what is wrong so he gave Spike a pretty big shot of some sort and he said he should be a completely different dogo today, but when i left this morning he was still sleeping. I dont know if it is the coccidia making him lay around or the shot, but it seems he doesnt want to do anything but sleep. hope this shot helped.

![]() Update * Well, Spike is fighting now to be assist fed and is still very lazy. The vet called us this morning to ask how he is doing to see if the shot has helped at all. Well, we told him no, and the Vet wants him to come back and stay the day with them at the office so they can monitor him and try and figure what is wrong. He is looking at the X-rays and wondering if his organs arent fully developed or something. But I dont understand how, his blood sugar can drop so low after being assist fed every 3 hours with karo and then jump right back up after eating. So the doct is going to watch over him today and try some more things. I will keep you posted.

![]() that poor baby...hope and pray he gets better, that's just terrible that he's so young and hasn't been able to bond with you and your wife yet...if that vet can't get to the bottom of it, check around for a different vet..there are some that are very knowledgeable..Too bad you weren't closer in Illinois to the one my Mom uses, she is 81, and is so impressed with this new vet she's been using..

![]() *UPDATE* Well, Spike spent the day at the Vet's office and they ran all kinds of tests on him. Spike was getting an ear infection, so they treated that, plus albon for the coccidia. The vet read the fine print on the emergency doctors papers and I guess we were not feeding him enough. The nurse at the vet fed him over double what we were and he was running around and playing, barking, etc. So one of the nurses who works at the vet office, used to have a yorkie and he just died not to long ago, so she offered to take him and watch him over for a couple days and let the vet know what is going on. So he is doing well.
