| bad news Hi all My 5 1/2 year old little girl has a tumor on her tail that has to be removed. The vet said it looks malignent. GiGi is going in for surgery on Friday. But I want to go for a second opinion tomorrow. The vet said he might have to remove part of her tail. I just hope it hasn't spread.....she has had this lump for about 10 days. Is anyone in New Jersey who knows a specialist in oncology? Tina / |

| I'm from Jersey Tina. I'm from NJ and went through similiar with my Newman. We use Stafford Vet. Dr. Vandenbrock. He always referes to Redbank which is a specialty hospital and has oncology. However, he consulted himself with them and took care of my boy. I would reccomend doing pre-tests first to be sure it hasn't spread. I would do CBC. Lymphnode Aspiration and and ultra sound as well as x rays. I'm telling you this as we went through it. Unfortuanately for us, it had already spread to Newman's liver and we lost him last Friday. I'm sorry, if I'm upsetting you. I don't mean to. I'm just trying to give you the best advice I can. Dr. Vandenbrock (Stafford Vet) is in my opinion the best around for care. They've been my vet for over 10 yrs. and always get ranked best in Ocean County. If you would like their number I'd be happy to share it with you and I hope your baby does well. Elaine |

| Tina. I should have mentioned in my earlier post that Newman's tumor was on his foot pad and it was very rare. We had the tumor removed and biopsied but it came back within months and then we looked into amputation of his leg, and went through pre-testing to be sure it had not spread. Like I said, unfortuanetly it had spread to his liver so we did not follow through with amputation. Again, though the location of his tumor was rare. None of the vets or oncologists consulted in their 30 yrs. had ever seen it before. Elaine |

| Hi Elaine This lump is in her tail.....I noticed the lump about 10 days ago and wasn't sure if it was a boil/wart or something mundane.. So I made an appointment cause it wasn't desolving. I am not even thinking about it having spread internally. I am just not there. I remember when you posted about Neuman it was so sad. It always is when these little ones get sick...it really is just too sad. But the vet did an aspiration. I guess when he removes it we'll find out the rest if any thing else. She just had a urine analysis from a uti infection and now this. I would have taken her in last week but I saw how shaken she was at the last appointment for her infection and I didn't want to over do it with her if ii didn't have to so I waited a week.....should not have done that. But yes I would like your vets number. I am trying to get an appointment with an oncologist at Garden State Vet Hosp. I have to try again tomorrow. Thanks for sharing. | There's an Oncologist up here in AERA in Fairfield, NJ. Dr. Asaroff is her name and I've met her......she is kind, caring, honest and just an all around lovely woman. Good Luck to you and your baby....
