| HEY Gizmo, Dis here is Wemi! Wut da heck, man? Dat stuff's nufin to be messin wid. I am weawwy gwad u r ok. Here's my momma. Judy, I have been locked off of YT for about a week - Admin was finally able to get me on tonite. Holy crap - which, btw, I almost did when I read your post and couldn't respond. I am so glad Gizmo is ok. That is a horrible thing to experience, poor little guy. I'll put up with mice before I'll use that poison. I lost my dog I had all through school to rat poison after the flood (Agnes) when some of the farmers put it out. My dog either got into it or ahold of something else that had. Give that little superhero a great big hug and kiss for me.

| I am so glad that Gizmo is doing better and is home with you. I am very glad you posted this. I have been putting mouse bait out for a little over a month now. I put it up high because that is where I seem to see the mice. Babybear can not get to it because he still can not walk but my bigger dogs I was scared would get to the bait that is why it is up high. I have little shelves that come off my walls and I place them up there. I was told by someone the reason people are having troubles with mice and rats is because of all the flooding the mice and rats need to get out of the way and they know about the floods before we do. So they are running into our homes. good luck with everything and we will keep Gizmo in our thoughts and prayers.

| Hey Gizmo...you behave your little self, and quit scaring your mommy!!! Soooooo happy to hear he is just fine, be sure to watch his little furbutt the next few days and get to the vet again...if you notice anything unusual happening with him. Okay Gizmo, I forgive you and still love you, but please be a good boy...you scared every body, especially your family. Hugs to you all!!!

(By the way, he's gained some MORE weight! He's now 5.6 pounds! ) I asked the vet if the scales were right since I didn't think he'd gained that much weight in a week (.6). The vet said, "Well, he weighs a little less than that now." [Vet humor ..lol]Yes, we'll be watching for the signs we were told to watch for, and he will have his vitamin k tablet every day for the next two weeks.

I think you're right about the flooding causing more rat/mice issues. I just want to ask that you rethink the rat bait in light of our experience. Remember that even if you put it up high enough, the mice will still crawl off somewhere else to die, it doesn't happen immediately. I would HATE for one of your babies to get sick from eating a sick or dead rat who still had high levels of the poison in its system. There HAVE to be alternative ways to deal with rats/mice. I'll be researching and I encourage you to do so also. Hugs, Judy and Gizmo

Hon, I really hope I read this wrong and you are not poisoning stray dogs and cats with rat poison....are you?? There are much more humane ways to deal with the issue of stray dogs and cats, and I encourage you to contact your local humane society for advice. Maybe live traps you can borrow from them? From what the vet told me, this is a VERY painful way to die. The animal slowly bleeds to death internally. Thank you for taking the time to respond and your concern for Gizmo. I am very glad to say again that we think he will be fine. Thank God we found him and had him treated in time.

| i think there is something up with the poster, his profile says he is an animal control officer who loves to hunt...i'm sure an animal control officer would be educated in the correct way to handle stray animals |

| Thank God that Gizmo's ok! I went through a terrifying situation myself on the the 4th of July! Boobah ate right through an electrical cord and got the shock of her life. She was screaming and my brother managed to take her off the cord. Luckily, after spending the night at the vets, she was ok. But yes you are right, these little guys can get into everything! I have yorkieproofed my townhome and made sure all cords hang high.

| Oh, I'm so glad your baby is okay! Wow. Gizmo was a cord chewer also, so we put up cords, but on cord covers, put clear deodorant on some and the bitter spray on others. I hope he's figured out they are no no's, but who knows?? I still watch him. I really think that's how he got into the rat bait. He was probably going for the cords behind the entertainment system in my son's room. Chris's room is off limits for quite a while. I'm really convinced that there's no such thing as "yorkie proofed" completely. I guess we just have to do our best and be vigilant about watching them.

| I agree with you about the locks on the cabinets. If Gizzy stayed in our kitchen while we were gone, I would do the same! We were keeping him in a playpen, but I think he might jump out now. We don't leave him alone very often, but right now we leave him in a small, enclosed bathroom. I'm also looking for a very long gate or an xpen. I'm still researching that, but we don't let him have free access to the house when we're not there. These are smart little buggers! It wouldn't surprise me if they opened a few cabinets!!
