You are all so wonderful and supportive...thank you! He's doing fine today.

John will call our regular vet as soon as the office opens and ask about long-term effects on his body that we forgot to ask last night.

Kathy...you are 100% right about not wanting poisoned rats dying in my house. I guess I always thought they just disappeared or something. I don't know what I was thinking.

I am sorry if I scared any of you with the title of the post, but I wanted to make it easier to search if someone else had this happen.

To those of you who have been through this and offered your knowledge, THANK YOU! I feel much better knowing that your little ones have not suffered from long-term damage.

I had no idea they packed rat bait with some lighting fixtures and electrical things! That's something I have to check more carefully from now on.

Another thing about using any type of poison to kill mice and rats is when they eat it...and hide to die...your pet may find the dead mouse or rat before you do then there's the chance that our pets will eat the poisoned rodent...also not good. Thank goodness you were there and had seen what he had gotten into and was able to tell the vet. I hope there will be no lasting effects from this on Gizmo...our little super hero. My h put some mouse poison up on our roof (without me knowing) and a few days later I took the dogs out to their pen and there was a dead mouse in there. I'm so glad I found it before one of the dogs did and decided to have a snack! Having small dogs is worse than having a toddler around!

Judy ~ I'm so glad Gizmo is ok... it's nice to hear something turning out good for a change!

Geez, just as I was posting this, I looked down cause I hear chewing... Jolie had gotten one of the little hard plastic "feet" off of the fan and was chewing on it. UGH!! Thankfully the pieces are all still here. Yep... worse than toddlers.

little stinkers get into anything and everything. They find things we

How scary Judy! Thank God Gizmo will be just fine. We definitely need to keep a watchful eye at all times on these guys. Who would think of even 1/2 the things they do!!!!

OMG JUDY!

That would have been horrible if you weren't home!!! OMG! I can't even think about it!! THANK GOD! you acted quickly!! Just when you think it's safe to put them on the floor!! These little devils find EVERYTHING!! My Aunt had a GS that got into rat poison...many years ago...she wasn't a luck as Gizmo was...Poor little baby!

Life is so scarey. One second things are dandie and the next second your life can be thrown in air.

Oh Judy, I'm so glad Gizmo is OK!

I haven't been on much lately, so I've just been trying to check up on some of my favorite people. I know I had to have missed in excess of 15,000 messages this week alone.

I know this had to be terrifying for you. Just glad it's now past and your baby is fine. Happy thoughts for you both.

OMGosh, Judy...I'm so happy to hear Gizmo is okay! Thank goodness you saw it and were able to get him to the vet quickly. I remember another little yorkie that got into mouse poison once and it wasn't discovered as quickly and the little yorkie survived, but suffered a lot more symptoms because of not knowing and getting her to the vet as quickly. That rat/mouse poison is scary stuff. I'm so glad you discovered it when you did and were able to get him the help he needed! Hugs to you and kisses to Gizmo!

I am so glad Gizmo will be ok, that is so scary. Before we moved to Moms she had Mouse poison around , she had to get rid of them, hate those little critters.

John spoke to our regular vet today and things are still looking really good!

We just have to keep an eye on him for about four more days and report any issues. After that we should be home free. Yay!!

Wow girl, that must have been terrifying!

Glad you found out what Gizmo was up to so fast, and moved fast on this! Could have been fatal, and make you wonder what happened.

how scarry hurray for fast mom's when i was at the emergency vets this last weekend a woman lost all three of her dogs when they knocked off snail bait from a over head shelf when she went to the airport. how horrible that is let your dog know green is a bad food color just like veggies
