| Thanks for that info! No, a test has not been mentioned, so I will most definitely ask about it. I need to call him in a couple of days anyway because I am concerned about having Gizmo neutered now. I don't want to put it off too long (he hasn't started marking yet) but if he is having clotting issues or the vita k would cause a problem, I don't want to risk it. I decided he would be the best person to ask that question. Yes, we are checking his belly and the inside of his ears every day. So far so good.

| Judy when had you planned on having him neutered? It's a different vet right, didn't you have to take him to an ER vet when this happened? Be sure his regular vet is well aware of his incident and his vitamin K...I know you said you checked in with your vet afterwards...but that surprises me that the same vet would schedule a neutering or any procedure until this is well past. I think you'd be better safe then sorry...and put off the neutering for a little while...I don't think the vitamin K would harm him, but I'd want to be sure the vitamin K has worked...done it's job...before having any surgery. I guess what I'm trying to say is I wouldn't want to take a chance that he may bleed excessively, please be careful...I know your vet would know and will advise you properly, but why chance it? Wait awhile...okay? Hugs to you and Gizmo take care.

Two different vets were involved, you're right. Our regular vet also knows everything about the incident. Prior to this incident we had planned to schedule him for a week from now for his neuter, but we have not yet actually scheduled it. (I was being a really big wus about the whole neutering thing long before this happened.) That's exactly why I need to talk to my vet before I schedule it. I also plan to ask that they run whatever test they need to run to make sure his blood is clotting properly. And this incident also rules out having the neuter done at the inexpensive clinic. I am going to stick with my regular vet even though it's a higher cost. So, we have that covered, thanks!

| Let me know what your regular vet says...I hope all is well and Gizmo will be neutered before long...then you can relax, I'll be thinking about you and Gizmo, and pray that everything will turn out just fine.

| OMG!! I only just found this thread tonight! I am sooooo relieved that Gizmo is doing OK!!! Thand goodness you acted to quickly..... I shudder to think of what would have happened otherwise. You must have been completely terrified for him. Hugs to you and your little guy, and definitely be very cautious with the neutering pre-op tests, Lauren |

| Thank goodness that Gizmo is okay...That just sounds so incredibly scary, and yes, it's good that you will be asking questions about the blood clotting...That could be a big problem if he's getting neutered. My prayers are with your little guy, Judy!!

| Thanks everyone. It looks like the neuter is postponed for at least six weeks. When I told the vet tech that Gizmo still had the rest of his two weeks on vita k tablets, the vet got on the phone. He asked me to look at the vitamin k bottle..... and I had read it wrong! He's on it for a month! It said a half pill a day and contained 14 pills. Sheesh...I need to learn math!!When the month is up, we have an appt. to come in for tests. They already had a reminder down to call me to schedule. I LOVE my vet!!
