| Well, we just got back from town, we were at the vets first thing this morning. Dr. Murray had Jaden first in line to be seen. Poor guy had a really rough night last night, he could hardly sleep at all, he kept getting up and had to go to the bathroom and then you could tell his butt was hurting him from having to go so much This morning he wouldn't eat anything for me and only drank a little bit of water. We got the Vets as they opened and I brought Jaden in the examining room. Dr. Murray gave him a thorough examination and ran his fecal check. His temperature was 102.6 which was in the normal range so I was relieved. Last night he was running a fever for about an hour Dr. Murray really wasn't sure what the problem was as his fecal check appeared to be normal with the exception of it being runny. He thought perhaps the trip we took recently could've thrown him out of sorts or perhaps he ate something that upset his tummy. He said for now, no more treats or extra things for Jaden at all in case he's just having some sensitive stomache problems. He put him on some antibiotics that should calm his internal system and fight any bacteria in there if he picked up something from stepping in the grass and licking his paw or something like that, he also gave him a hydraytion shot and is treating him symptamatically currently. He gave me a syring and a quart of lime gatorade and said to give him a syring full every 15-20 minutes to make sure he is hydrated and to fix him a little bit of boiled rice when we got home and mix it in with his dry food and see if he'd eat it. He said if all of this doesn't help or the problems persist more than 2 days to bring him back in and they'd have to do some bloodwork on him to make sure nothing is wrong with his liver or kidneys I am so worried now, I really hope and pray his tummy is just being senstive and is just out of sorts from all of our traveling and it's nothing more serious. Please keep him in your prayers. He's still not feeling well today currently he's resting though and for that I'm thankful as he didn't get much rest last night. I think I slept maybe an hour or two because I was so worried about him. I hope tonight goes better for both of us...Thank you all for all of your support. I'm a total wreck right now, he's my baby boy and we have a special bond. Don't get me wrong, I love Jewelina to death but Jaden will always be my special baby, we have a closeness that's just hard to describe and it makes me so worried when he's sick... |

| So sorry to hear he's not feeling well. About the anti-diarrhea medication...I can't believe the vet told you to use that! We try to tell patients NOT to use those types of meds (Pepto, Immodium...etc...) because whatever's trying to get out just gets "stuck" in the bowels. There's obviously something causing the diarrhea and he's having it for a reason. Personally, I wouldn't give the meds so that his little body can pass whatever the bacteria is. That's just my opinion, though (based on what I've been taught for humans). Jaden!

| Once in a while with that type of medication is ok...we just try to warn against using it. I was just surprised when I thought the vet had recommended it! I'm glad to hear he's on antibiotics. I hope he'll start feeling better soon! If his butt still looks like it's sore, try putting some sort of a barrier around the outside of the anus (diaper rash cream, vaseline) to soothe the irritated area and to protect against further irritation.

I keep the pepto on hand for Jaden as he had something similar to this happen once right after I got him and he had so many bowel movements he dehydrated himself because of it. Since he wasn't drinking last night I was worried it would happen again The vet put some vaselina around his anus when we were there and I picked up some at the store to put on once that wears off. It is really red and looks painful, I think part is from his bowel movements and part is from him scratching it on the floor because it feels bad to him. I feel so bad for him, it's times like these you wish there was more you could do.Thanks though, for all of your help and information! I appreciate it! Hugs, Joy | |
