| Tetley's Tummy Troubles Does anyone else's yorkie's tummy make incredibly loud squishy gurgling digesting noises??? The first time it happened I was very alarmed, but it seems to happen regularly and doesn't affect his mood - I mean he doesn't even seem to notice it! Every time it happens he has really soft stools afterwards, but I don't think it's necessarily diarrhea - just really soft. I have some Metronidazole to give him (the breeder gave me some) but I have such a hard time getting him to take it. I just gave him some today because he just had a poop with lots of mucus in it. Ick. I haven't changed his diet, but I'm starting to think maybe the food he's on is not agreeing with him. He's still on the Eukanuba that the breeder had him on, but I'm thinking maybe I should switch him sooner than I planned...or will that just add to his troubles? He seems to have a lot of gas and really stinky poops. |

| Jaden had some tummy problems lately and I took him to the vet and he gave him Metronidazole...not trying to scare you here but the third day after Jaden was taking the pill (he was ona 1/4 tablet dosage) he woke me up in the middle of the night vomiting yellow bile and foam. I called the vets office when they opened and they said that medication can have side effects such seizures and damage of nerves resulting in numbness and tingling of extremities (peripheral neuropathy) ,nausea, headaches, loss of appetite, a metallic taste, and rash. They told me to take him off the medication immediatly. I did that and he vomitted two more times, the same yellow bile stuff. I took him to the vet right after that and they gave him a shot of zantide...something like that to settle his stomach as he was going to dehydrate himself. After they did that and I took him off the medication he was fine. The doctor said its rare for that to happen but each dog is different some medications will affect some dogs more harshly than others...anyway, just wanted to let you know so that if Tetley starts having any problems ask your vet about the Metronidazole. |

I think I may have made a connection to what the problem is - it seems each time I give him the bully stick he's sick later. Bully stick is now put away, I'll see if he clears up. I hope Jaden is feeling better! | |

| I had a male yorkie who threw up all the time. I was told Yorkies can have stomach problems. My female age 13 doesnt have any but he sure did. He was real skinny and died from an accident at age 5. We had to feed him mild food because if he ate what the female ate he would barf it up. |

| Update Tetley's tummy is still upset...one day he's fine then the next day he's got the runs again. So I took him to the vet today and brought in a sample for them to test. I'll know in a few days if he's got problems due to parasites or what! Poor little guy. He's acting fine and is eating well, he just can't seem to shake the runs! I also found out he's growing like a weed! He's up to 3.3 lbs already @ 19 weeks! He was only 2.75 at xmas! So obviously his body is not lacking nutrients because of his tummy issues. |

| Poor dude And poor you, having to deal with the runs is NO fun If they don't find any parasites, he may just need some active cultures(plain yogurt) in his tummy to help with digestion. Do you give him any Missing Link? Mine poopie really firm with that

| You're welcome I don't know what's in Activia, besides the great cultures it has. There may be too much sugar. Definitley a BIG NO if there's any artificial sweeteners in it, they are like poison to animals I just give mine plain, full-fat, yogurt. NO fat free stuff, it has so much crap in it to make it thicker that's not good for any living being Just a little spoonful is all they need. Doesn't matter what brand it is, either, as long as it says Live Active Cultures on it somewhere. I just buy whatever brand has the furthest away expiration date BeyondSpoiled.com is a good place to get the ML, she's a member here http://www.beyondspoiled.com/index.a...ATS&Category=7 When I run out, I'm going to get mine from her, her prices are great

| Shoot, I almost forgot! If you get the Missing Link, be sure to start him on it VERY slowly, as it can cause tummy upset, gas and stinky farts if you give too much too fast. Just start with a pinch a day and slowly increase that over a couple of weeks, until he's getting the recommended dosage (I think it's 1 tsp for dogs under 20lbs). I give my girls 1/3 tsp. each, since they're 2.75 and 5.5 lbs each. Good luck
