Update on Dixie

Hi all. This is an update on Dixie from an earlier post from about a week and a half ago.

Things are a bit better with me, but the pain doesn't go away very quick does it? It is amazing the impact that this little one had on my life, just in the 4 months that I had her. She was an amazing dog and will NEVER be forgotten.

So the situation with the breeder is this. I did a little researching and I found that she illegally sold us our dog out of her home without a vendor's license. Also, she has no boarding license, but has 11 dogs in her home at the time. When I called the auditor's office to ask about this, they asked for her address and I started to give it to them and they said "Oh, yes, we are very familiar with her." Supposedly she is also in trouble with the humane society. This BREAKS MY HEART. There have been complaints on her for a few years now. WHY DID I NOT RESEARCH THIS BEFOREHAND? I was so ignorant. I saw those beautiful puppy eyes and fell in love. I bought her no questions asked. I was so so wrong.

Also, the IRS is after her for not paying taxes on all the dogs she has sold. I flipped through my emails from her and found one where she requested for me to pay in CASH. (we paid $1500 for the pup) I didn't though. I wrote her checks, and have copies on the way from the bank.

I sent her an email asking for our carrier back (I don't even know why I want it, but I do.) and she got quite hostile with me (when I have been nothing but nice through this). I quipped back and she ended up calling me a few names. (I have been called worse, but her behavior amazes me)

Frankly, at this point, we have spoken to an attorney. I am not a sue happy person. In fact, I have never ever sued anyone in my lifetime. But the way she has treated us, on top of the illegal practices and then the negligent behavior, we have had enough. We PAID her to watch our dog. She failed us. She failed our daughter. And most importantly, she failed Dixie. I don't want another dog from her, (or anyone else for a while at least), but we are requesting our money back for the dog. (we did give her the option of giving us another dog, but she flat out refused-that is when she started getting testy with us.)

I feel I have to do this. I feel I have to fight-For Dixie. She deserved it. Some people may not agree with me here, and I understand that. I hope though that I will get some support in this, as we are grieving something awful here. My heart feels like it is in a million pieces.

When I had read the post about what happend and again I am so sorry for what happend to your little dixie, I totally agree with you and you follow your heart. She did let you down and your daughter and of course poor little dixie, I wish you the best of luck with your case and hope you get peace for little dixie.. Sounds like she isnt a very nice person. And shame on her... for acting like she did.

Good luck and Hopefully on day you will have another little yorkie baby to love and spoil, (not that it will replace dixie) but there are so many that need someone to love them..And may ease the pain a little .

I am so sorry you and your family have to deal with all of this on top of the loss of your little baby. I agree and support you in what you are doing. Not just for you but to stop this person from ever making anyone else go thru the heartache you are all having to live with because of her greed and incompetence. She shouldn't be allowed to have ANY dogs. It's pretty obvious she's not a compassionate person. I will pray for your success in shutting her down and also for help in easing your pain. In time, when you are ready, you will find the perfect little baby to help fill the void left by the loss of Dixie. He/she will never replace Dixie, but will help comfort you as your broken heart mends. Best wishes in your efforts to do right and I'm sure everyone here will support you 100%.

I didn't want to upset you when this happened to poor Dixie but I was so Pissed at that woman I could hardly type ! How dare she not hold on to that baby she was responsible for and let that happen to her.

GO AFTER HER with all you got !!! It won't bring your baby back but I swear - that's what I'd be doing. Too many people out there are JERKS when they screw up....and she was a BIG jerk. If she was truly sorry - she'd NEVER have behaved the way she did.

I am behind you 110%!!!!!!! You need to stand up for what you feel is right, and you are correct when you said that if nothing else, you need to FIGHT FOR DIXIE!!!! I just cannot imagine what you are going through right now. My heart is breaking in a million pieces right along with yours. This woman needs to be taught a lesson before something like this happens to someone else!

I think you're doing the absolute right thing. People should not be able to get away with this. Poor, sweet Dixie...you are doing right by her and I commend you for doing so!!

I'm sure your grief is overwhelming. Time and keeping busy are the only outlets for your grief. I'll say again that I am so sorry this happened. Negligence is not an excuse. I support your actions. You don't need to apologize to anyone. Bless you.

Go as far as you can for Dixie and don't even worry about what people think of you. If they disagree...oh well. It is what it is.

You do what you feel is the right thing (by the way, I agree w/ you).It really does'nt matter what anyone else thinks. Just brace yourself for aggravation, frustration, upset, and anger. I had to sue someone(not over a pet) & it was all those emotions & more. It took 8 months, but in the end it was way worth it. This woman has clearly been treating people & pets w/ total disreguard for a long time if people are already familiar w/ her. She likely has done it for so long because no-one has commited them selves to go through the pain & process of litagation. If you do decide to do it just think of Dixie when the going gets tough. I have this fear that she is going to come on here and read this. Ugh. But, I have never mentioned her name and I won't. We will have our day in court. It just makes me so sad that she truly takes NO responsibility for what happened. We have a leash law and she didn't follow it. She admitted she had too many things in her hands, but yet she still didn't put Dixie in the cage. I don't understand. If I had someone's BABY in my care, I would be so super careful. In fact, we take care of our neighbor's dog (lab) and she is a "RUNNER". You know the type-if they can squeeze past you at the door-she will. And she never looks back. So, my husband and I always go through the back gate, close it, and go in the back door when we watch her. We are afraid if we go to the front door, she will be waiting to escape.

But, we aren't hired to watch anyone's dog. We don't consider ourselves boarders. This lady did. I paid her. (I did send her a check at the advice of the attorney.) She was responsible, but yet she wants to SELL us another dog. And then she is nutty enough to call me the B word in an email. (which I enclosed with the demand letter and it will go to court with us. If nothing else, it is tells of her character.)

Ugh. Life is so tough sometimes. Life without Dixie is awful. We are still grieving something fierce. But, I know with time, I will feel better. If I fight this woman and win, I know Dixie would be proud and she will be shining down on me. So that is what I have to do.

I am in total agreement for what you are doing! How dare that person let your little Dixie get killed and then have the nerve to treat you like that? I just cannot understand some people, but she deserves to be sued and while you're at it, sue for pain and suffering, because we all know that is what's happening with your family. No matter what amount you get won't bring Dixie back, but it will hit that breeder in the worst way since she only seems to think of money. How she could call you names after what she did...she deserves to be punished. Maybe you should put her name out so that others living near you know not to buy from her. Have you tried googling her name...maybe there already info on her! It's people like her that make me ashamed of the human race. Thinking of you! Keep us updated! RIP Dixie.
