My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Diareha since Saturday - HELP PLEASE! Well I took the stool sample in and it tested neg. for any parasites. They gave me Metronidazole Suspension - any idea how this works??? I went home and gave her some and with in 10 minutes she threw up. She hasn't gotten sick since Saturday. Would the 1st does still be in her or do you think it came up? I told them I was worried about what looked like blood in the diarheia but when they ran the tests they didn't see any, which I found strange. They also said when they have diareha, its common to sometimes see blood. When they run the stool tests, does that also show Parvo if it was that? The stool is normal smelling (not the foul dead smell that parvo is) She is also acting pretty normal. She's not lathargec at all. Maybe alittle quiet but I'd expect that. How long can they go with diareha??? The only thing different I've done is I gave her these chicken beef jerky chews for dogs and she loved them so I gave her maybe 2-3. Could this have casued this??? HELP PLEASE! |

| Take her off her food and give her boiled chicken and rice. Cook the 10min rice and dice up the chicken and feed her this for a couple of days. You should see results, then add her kibble to it slowly until she is back on her own food. If there is no change have the vet worm her! I went through this with Buddy for 3months. My vet said it was a food problem, I kept changing foods with no results. He lost 2lbs. I then went for a 2nd opinion and the new vet started by worming him. He said if it were a male parasite there would be no eggs in the stools. 48 hrs later he was his old self again. There was a male parasite hanging around in his intestine causing this mess for 3mos. Good luck. |

| It is interesting that she tested negative for parasites, yet the meds they gave her are for parasites. It could be that you gave her too many treats. I know that I recently bought Sissy some new treats (yogurt drops and Dingo snack sticks). She had a whole yogurt drop and a whole snack stick and had diarrhea that night. But none since. Boiled chicken and white rice is recommended for diarrhea, too.

| When Chachi had diahrea there was blood in it and the Vet was not concerned. He said that was common.

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | It just worries me How long can they go , with liquid diareha? I've only had her 2 weeks. She's 11 months old and weighs 4 lbs, but I feel she's under weight and should weigh more. I can feel her little bones and with my dogs, there are no bones to feel! I guess I just have to hope the meds he gave and making her the rice and chicken/hamburgar will help. Plus I'm pretty tired of cleaning!!! No - i want her better, but it seems every time I turn around she misses the pee pad and there is diareah on the floor. She's going alot! |

| I think 3 days of diahrea is the longest I would go without getting to the vet again. Any longer than that and I would be worried about dehydration.

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | I did rice too but the little bugger picked the chicken out and left the rice!!! So with the hamburger I took the cooked rice and cooked it in with the meat to give the rice more of the hamburger taste. That worked. She just didn't like that rice! |

| I hope she is on the mend. Especially with this horrible heat, if the diarrhea continues - please also use Pedialyte to make sure she isn't dehydrating. Actually, with this heat - that might be a good idea for us all!
