| ![]() I picked up Adie from the emerency vet this morning. She started kissing my face the minute I picked her up. Every measurement had improved but is still just a tad lower than where it should be. She was very alert and seemed like she might be a little hungry. Problem: Although she is "out of the woods" they recommended that I take her to my regular vet. My regular vet is off today and there is only a tech there to sell dog food and such. Sigh. So I took her to a vet we have used in the past. I didn't like his treatment plans but his diagnostics are excellent. But Adie came to him with her IV in place, her bag of fluids (includes dextrose) and a recommendation for feeding every hour on the hour as well as keeping an eye on her hydration and blood glucose level. The only thing that the emergency vet didn't do, as far as I know, is test her for an infection (viral or bacterial.) This vet is going to do that and call me to discuss antibiotics if she does have an infection. He will also give her the second worming which both vets recommended. So, again, she is out of the woods, but still under veterinarian care. I should be able to bring her her this afternoon or evening. Thank God. And thanks to all of you for you advice, concern and prayers. It makes me cry with gladness to know there are so many caring people on this board. I will never leave it! Hugs to all Lou |

| ![]() Thanks Lisa, The breeder lives very far away and is a really nice person. I decided to wait until Adie was all right before calling her. I don't want her to worry. When I do call her I will let her know of the general consensus that Adie came to me too young and advise her to insist on 12 weeks before releasing a puppy. Adie was actually her first sale. Adie was also doing everything long before she was expected to and we both thought she would be OK. I am not inexperienced with dogs. All of my dogs have been rescues (most with medical problems) except for Adie. Adie is my life-long dream for a dog. So the breeder and I BOTH made an error in judgement. Won't happen again though! Thank God for my new Yorkie Talk friends. Lou |

I know it is hard when you first bring a little yorkie puppy home, but I am sure that Adie will grow to be a healthy dog and a wonderful companion for you. I promise you won't regret getting a yorkie. ![]() Glad to hear that little Adie is out of the woods at the moment. Please continue to update us as you get information. I will continue to keep her in my prayers until she is well.

I hope all goes well for you and Adie. We have all made mistakes, breeders and buyers alike, as long as we learn from our mistakes, then all is good. God Bless you for caring for rescue dogs. You deserve to have your life long dream fulfilled. Good luck.

| ![]() Lou- I'm so glad Adie is on the mend. I was very worried for both of you. Hopefully the bloodwork will show the problem and it will be an easy fix rather than an "I don't know what happened". I'm not an expert but because of her age she should probably still be on some wet food as well as dry. Plain yogurt is usually good for them, as is cottage cheese. Just remember, eating is better than not eating, so find what works. Sissy loves yogurt (but not cottage cheese) and she loves mango and papaya, too. I hope little Adie comes home this afternoon and you can just love her and love her and love her!!

| ![]() You guys are SOOOO nice! I called the breeder and talked to her for quite a while. She offered to drive up here (3 hours) and pick Adie up, but she works full time and I took vacation time in order to bond with Adie so I will actually have round-the-clock care for her until Monday at which time husband can take over. Right now he is scared to death of her size so I'm going to have to show him how to do everything. The vet called and Adie does have a viral infection - cause unknown. He is giving her an antibiotic and she will be coming home with it. She has eaten a little A/D and vomited a bit once. If she has to come home on IV's I guess I can handle it. There is no one there at night. I have a shopping list going. I am going to get everything that you all have suggested (that I don't have yet.) Papaya sounds good and if I am not mistaken it is good for upset stomachs isn't it? It is great to have all of these suggestions. Some day in the future some new yorkie owner is going to look for this same problem and will have the benefit of this thread to help him or her. Advice: If you think your puppy may need to see a vet - GO TO THE VET. Do NOT delay. I''ll post another update as soon as I have something to report. Hugs to all of you. Lou |

| ![]() Adie had to go back to the emergency vet last night. The regular vet wanted to keep her overnight because she is still vomiting from time to time and now has diarrhea. There is no one there at night so I wasn’t about to let her stay there alone. I had thought I would bring her home on the IV and sleep on the couch with her in the cloths basket next to the couch but I lost my nerve. I’m glad I took her back. I really like the place and think their treatment is just what she needs. Adie truly does seem to feel better and has seemed to feel better and better every time I see her. It is just taking so long! Her little tummy isn’t bloated or hard anymore and she doesn’t mind having it rubbed. She just needs to stay on IV’s until she no longer vomits. The length of time between vomits continues to lengthen. Then she will have to eat with a little enthusiasm and keep it down. They said they would not offer any food last night (Giving her stomach a rest and a chance to heal). She was still sleeping a lot which is good in a way because she can conserve her energy. I feel so depressed and so guilty. I can’t stand the thought of her hurting. All I want to do is bring her home and love on her. She needs a mommy right now and I can’t be that for her until I can bring her home. I couldn't stop crying last night. All of the stress and worry has just gotten to be too much to keep inside anymore; Thanks for being there for me and understanding how I feel. Lou |

| ![]() Lou, you are being the very best kind of mommy that there is! Knowing when to turn over the care to the experts is the best thing you can do for your little one, and she knows that. Try to visit her if they will let you. I hope that she will be home and in your arms soon. |
