| Did the vet hospital say anything else? Like to cover her in a warm blanket and hold her? Also, is she eating and drinking fluids? I'd recommend taking her back to the hospital just to be safe if she isn't getting any better... Hope Baby Gene gets better soon! |

| I believe it is safe to give them infant tylenol drops. but I would ask the vet first. It is not a good idea to cover anything or anyone that has a fever, it just makes the fever go higher. Learned that the hard way with one of my kids. I hope she gets back to normal soon. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Oh that poor baby - they didn't know why her fever is so high ? Could she have an infection ? You must be so worried and with the weekend coming - have an emergency number and location picked out just in case..... I don't want to scare you - I just remember my Chanel being sick on a weekend and it can be scary unless you have a place you know you can get to in a hurry if necessary. I would try to give her plenty of WATER...Syringe feed her if you have to - Pedialite for babies is good to give her also - all stores sell it....you don't want her dehydrating - did the vet say what to feed her ? Maybe ask them if you can give her a little boiled Chicken and Rice ? I would try that if she isn't eating - but ASK the vet first to double check Bless her heart - I hope she feels better soon !!! Good Luck |

| Hi there thanks so much for responding to my post, sorry to hear of your little furbaby has the same thing as Baby Gene she seems to be feeling a little better today she just seems sooooooo tired..unlike her..... she weighs 6pounds an either 7.50 >>oops i thought it was less then that on her weight until i just looked at her paper work.......she has been going to the pottie alot the past few days and hubby said this morning she looks like she has lost 10 pounds already..poor little one dont even weigh 10 pounds i told hubby(he said it was a word to use...lol) but she is on Lasix 12.5mg until we see the Doc this week on Fri..not sure if she will have to take this med all her life or just to get the fluid off..she still coughs or i should say honks so i hope he can tell me more on that i hate hearing her honk(cough) like she does it sounds aweful..he said at this time he was more worried about getting the fluid off around her heart. so maybe he can tell me more this week ,, she was panting so hard he said it was hard to tell....so we will see hope your little one gets along okay..just love our furbabies so much....like one of the kids...keep in touch and i will post on Fri how she is doing thanks again for asking hugs Baby Gene & Momma |

Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | I hope Baby Gene is feeling much better, and also that MyYorkies2 is doing better. Prayers for them to get over this and be real healthy little yorkies. Ours has been very fussy about eating since she got so ill week ago last, over what we and the vet thinks was a bad batch of dry dog food. I now have chicken cooking since she didn't eat too good today, just couldn't go to bed without her eating :-) Does your vet have your yorkies on a certain diet now? Sending gentle hug to Baby Gene and MyYorkie2, and Baby Blessing sends each yorkie kisses. Patti and ~~Baby Blessing~~ |

| Normally, when a child or adult has a fever ---you don't wrap them in a warm blanket. Instead, you should be cooling them down. I remember taking my son to the ER when he was one or two with a high fever and having seizures (tonsillitis)....anyway they put in in an ice bath to bring his temperature down, gave him medicine, and we were on our way back home in a couple of hours. I will never forget the doctor telling me that the worst thing many mothers do is put their babies to bed, cover them up, and try to keep them warm. Wrong..........he said.........just the opposite of what we should be doing. Just thought I'd mention this. I certainly would never resort to putting a Yorkie in an ice bath (I'd be seeing the vet long before I'd ever do this) -- but at the same time, I would keep him uncovered and try to prevent his becoming warmer. Dogs can take aspirin - this will often help bring a temperature down....but this wouldn't necessarily address the problem that is causing the temperature in the first place. Time to go to the vet......and after the visit, keep in close touch with him until your little pup is back to normal. Good Luck with your little pup -- Carol Jean |

| has the vet not said why the dogs got an enlarged heart? my sasha was coughing and panting so i took her to the vets and they said she had fluid in her lungs and an enlarged heart, she had meds but it didnt help and after 2 heart attacks i had to have her pts which broke my heart but she was 12 years old and had had a lot of problems in her life so i can understand why she had it but your 2 dogs are still young so i would ask the vet why your dogs have this.
