| cranial cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery Thank you lalaland. She is looking much more alert today and has eaten well and even gone for a pee. I wrote quite a detailed report on her to ladyjane if you're interested in more detail. Any suggestions or input from anyone who has gone through this is really appreciated by me as it's so nice to hear from people who have gone through something similar. |

The two week mark is definitely better because you can take the E collar off. I think we hate them more than them....they do manage with them on. It is a long process, but it will be over before you know it and she will be good as new!

| Cranial Cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery Yes, she is definitely brighter now, but I know she is really trying to get at her incision site so unless I'm sitting with her (which I have done most of the day) the collar has to go on. I'm really nervous about leaving it on all through the night though. |

| Oh, don't take it off! You might wake up to a mess! She will be ok with it on.

She hasn't tried to move much on her own yet nor has she had a bowel movement since before the surgery. What did you experience with your dogs? I don't want her to get constipated on top of everything else! | |

She will have a BM ... sometimes it is 3 or 4 days before they do. I have never had one get constipated. Usually after a couple of days they switch from ice to heat...but I would check your discharge instructions first....or give them a call and ask.

| That could be cause for concern. Is she eating well? Drinking water?

| Yes, she's eating everything I give her and she has been drinking as well. I don't know why she won't pee, she was doing so well yesterday when I took her out. I'll try her again now, it's just whenever I take her out she seems to be bothered by her leg and tries to get at it instead of doing her business. |

| cranial cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery Yes, thank you, things are going a lot better. I think Sunday was the day things turned around for the better. I took her outside to do her business and instead of just sitting down and trying to get at her stitches, she started walking properly on the snow and produced not only a pee but a BM as well, the size of which I have never seen from her before! Lol I guess that's what comes from not going for 5 days!! Since then she has been going out and walking about for a few minutes during each potty break. She still goes for her stitches when she has an opportunity but they come out next week so I can't wait. I guess I'll have to start her physio exercises soon. |
