| Hot Spot Treatment Was is the best home remedy hotspots. My foster dog Rikki has a hot spot on his thigh according to the owner at the doggy day care he was at yesterday (she texted me late last night and did not see it until after I left for work) (I am at work and will check it out when I get home in a few hours) I have anti-septic spray and Vetericyn gel to put on him along with an inflatable e-cone. The rescue wants to try and use some home remedy prior to taking him to the vet. Is there anything else I should be doing to treat the hot spot. Additionally, I will cut the hair around it if needed. He went to the groomer yesterday so not sure if this happened there. I didn't see anything when I picked him up from the day care but I also wasn't looking for it. Thanks

| That's weird the rescue wants to try a home remedy first because it really should be taken care of by a vet.

| I have actually used a home remedy before but it’s been a while as My old dog Boomer got one about 4 years ago. There’s lots of info on google. If it gets worse of course I will insist on a vet visit |

| Well I don't think it was a hot spot. Rikki went for grooming the other day and I think the groomer burned him with the dryer. Poor guy. The first night he would not let me near the wound to put some soothing cream. But yesterday and today I was able to spray it with cooling gel. Personally, I would not go back to the groomer but since he is a foster I have to follow the rescue's instructions. They get a discount for grooming and use that place. They also did not cut his nails or shave the but area to my liking. I let the rescue group know about the burn and will let them discuss it with the groomer. This actually allowed me to re-supply my first aid for the dogs as a lot of the items had expired so now I am up to date on the the basic necessities.

| My little Hugo use to have really itchy skin, I mean crazy itchy, along with some hot spots. I couldn't even put a finger on his back without him kicking his legs. I took him to a animal derm and spent over $700 on tests but the solution ending up simply being shampoo - BioHex Shampoo. Try bathing your little one with this shampoo, you can buy it online. It's safe to use daily. I saw a difference in Hugo after 3 washes. |

| Herbal Skin Care by Montana Emu Ranch I absolutely love the products made by Montana Emu Ranch. I have used their Herbal Skin Spray for years on all my critters for just about all wounds from a major deep puncture wound on our Quarterhorse stallion to all sorts of minor wounds and rashes on dogs, cats and the resident barn possum. Although the product is advertised for use in pets and livestock, Herbal Wound Skin Spray is my first go-to for all manner of human boo-boos as well. I find that there is minimal scarring when the product is used regularly until the wound is competely healed. The company is now selling in some stores, so you may be luck enough to find it locally, if not, it is totally worth the time and $$ to order on line: https://www.montanaemuranch.com/pet-...ay-p/plwsp.htm As a "ps", our horse vet was so impressed with the product he became a dealer and our dog vet was also impressed with the results. |

| Unfortunately, I do not know. I had to work when he went to the groomer so a volunteer picked him up from doggy day care and dropped him off. I know my groomer that I use does not use them.

| Burns are very common with cage dryers that’s why I was wondering.

| I am just glad he is doing much better now. He still has a mark but it is slowly going away. Trying to find him a forever home. He is the sweetest dog but can be leash reactive so the rescue group does not want to give him to s first time dog owner and they need to mention his issues beforehand. This means it will take time to find him the right home.

| Aloe Vera Gel is great for hot spots, razor burn and any type of irritation on animals and humans. I keep it on hand always!
