| We can't use Apoquel My little girl is just 1.95kg and my vet says that we can't use Apoqel for her allergies because she is not over 3kg?instead he gave us Atopica?Im waiting for new monoclonal allergy shots to be released from America, apparently that's the safest medicine for allergies.Does anyone from America knows anything about this monoclonal allergy shots?I went two weeks ago to see holistic vet(I want to try that route as well),holistic vet suggested because she is itchy and losing her hair that we need something with immediate result until we work on her immune system. He gave us Dermacton soap bar, herbal tincture,Bio-Kult advanced multi strain formula and suggested Venison raw meat(I started introducing it to her and she love it)He promised me he will call me every week for the next 2-3 months, which he did few days ago,I thought it will be free of charge as I paid just for consultation £320,day after his bill came through my letterbox £180 for 15-20 minutes of his consultation over the phone😡,I didn't say a word he was talking the same things over and over again😡I don't even know if he will help us or not but I have a feeling that these vets are pure money grabbers😢. |

| Probably can if I ask.Do you think they can help?I don't know how they would treat skin allergies? We done allergy test and I know on what she is allergic to,it's both food and environmental allergies. With food is not so bad but with environmental is impossible to be avoided. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Atopica is an absolutely *wonderful* allergy med, so I wouldn't hesitate in using it! And your vet is wrong on the Apoquel - a 4lb dog can absolutely be on Apoquel. Many 4lb dogs on this site are on it, including my Marcel. Marcel has been on both meds and both are fantastic.

| I would always go with the vet school , our vet referred us when Alfie was having fits and they were very good they tested for lots of things and we only had to pay the excess on our insurance and the insurance covered the rest. We had to py the vet school upfront on the first visit and then the insurance sorted the rest.

| Thank you both for your response,I had that little worm in me which bugging me all the time about these medicines,I read on the net and also my vet said that if we keep a dog on this two medicine for long(over 2 years)side affects can be disastrous 😢I'm just too concerned. We done skin, hair, blood test,no yeast, infection or bacteria present. We checked thyroid all perfect,it's not Cushing because there is no simptoms other than shedding.she is less than 2 years old,I will talk with my vet on Monday about referral,I might try them as well,I will do everything possible to help her, just I don't want to make mistake😢 |
