| Please help me safe my lil 8 w/o Ziggy I am a exhausted 1st time yorkie mom desperate for help.I have been reading alot of threats here in the past week and learned so very very much already.I am so grateful for this site & all you wonderful caring people. My husband and I had no clue of what we were getting into when we chose the runt of the litter, so called breeder etc..learned my lessons and then some after the fact but still am grateful for my lil man Ziggy I love him so much and cant bare to give up but I cannot seem to get him better.I try so very hard.My heart is broken..Many vet bills from 2 diff. vets with little change in him..please can you help me help him. Here is the info 8 week old male Parti Yorkie was fine 1st day..vet said he was healthy..next day Ziggy would not eat (owner provided me with puppy dry food in a zip lock bag and 1 jar of straint chicken baby food told me to mix it with the kibbles if he would not eat to do the changes for him) 1st day he licked of the baby food but never touched the kibbles...next day took him to vet for check up, vet said he was fine ..next day we took him again and the next day twice and the day after that and so on. Bought a tube of nutri cal 2nd day...Got put on albon for coccidia and on neometh for diarreah also on 2nd day ..on 3rd day visit got a anti vomiting shot..weight was down to 1 lb and started him on A/D perscription food to be fed around the clock every 2 hours via syringe..after many more vet visits under skin treatments and even changing vets.also added after vets advice, watered down sience diet can puppy food (which i put in blender) switching between watered down a/d food ..3cc each.. every 2-3hours) via syringe ...he sometimes drinks water from his bowl but mostly I give with syringe. He sleep all the time day & night..walks around a lil bit when he is not falling over..new vet told me to only give 1 cc nutri cal between some meals for maintenance and to dilute 1 part sugar and 1 part water and fill syringe to 1 cc for emergencies..did that already 3 times since yesterday..his diarreah was better today ..like a runny swirly tootsie roll instead of liquid..some days he will only poop once but urinate on avarage 4-5 times per day ..his weight last night @ vet was 1.1 lb..so a bit of a positive change..still sleeps all the time has no interrest in anything it seems..except when I rub behind his tiny ears...I hold him close to my skin alot when he is not in his crate..my husband thinks we need to trade him in. Breeder says sure ..I say hell no..so much more to tell..I dont trust breeder..caught her in to many lies also think I know more about what it takes to help a sick yorkie then she evr did in her so called 24 years of expirience..being that she comes across like the sweetest old lady she sure got very defensive when asked questions that could possibly help helping my baby.. instead I get a "oh,my daughter is on other line , or someone is at her door...I know I probly left alot out ..but its a start..time to feed the lil bugga..I thank you for your advise <3 |

| First, welcome to YT. Also welcome to the wonderful world of yorkies! I am so sorry Ziggy isn't feeling well. We have some amazing breeders here that might be able to give you some info. Yorkiemom1 really helped me when I was looking for a puppy. With her help, I knew exactly what to look for. Hopefully she or one of the other great ladies on here will see this thread and be able to advise you. Does your vet still think he is ok? Has he given any info on why he's not eating and laying around?

| Hello, I'm so sorry to hear that your baby is sick!! I know how your heart must feel right now I went through the same thing this entire month. The only difference is that mine also had kennel cough and giardia but she was treated with Panacur. Keep nutrical at all times and give it to the poor baby often. It may give him diarrhea but that is better than having him in a hypoglycemic shock. I will have you and your little baby in my prayers. Continue to syringe feed him!! That saved my babies life! Monitor closely and make sure he doesn't throw up. Canned pure pumpkin with NOTHING added helped with the diarrhea mine had. Let me know how he does!

| Hi and welcome to YT. I am sorry it is under such scary circumstances. I found YT when I first got Buster as he was very sick as well. I do know that switching food can cause upset and diarrhea so it becomes a catch 22 when you try to find something that they will eat as each food change can cause an upset. Sending prayers for you and your baby.

| My sil got the runt of a litter of Himalayan kittens and the vet told her to get a second job to be able to pay the vet bills. I know you are in love with him dearly already.....what does the breeder offer if you spend all this time and money and you can't pull him through? I'm sorry if this is harsh but you need to face the possibility that it might happen. As I've seen mentioned on here yorkies need to be with their mommy for 12 weeks. My heart aches for you and your precious puppy. I DO hope he makes it and grows up to be a strong and feisty companion. |

The old vet just didnt have much of a clue and still wasnt convinced he had coccida but put him on albon which was a GOOD thing , the new vet confirmed that he does have it but she also told me that it could be a liver shunt which in my opinon thus far I dont believe just yet..time will tell. I am beginning to think that some of it has something to do with the temp in our house and started keeping him warmer by placing a heating pad under 1 corner of his crate. I also took the kibbles the breeder gave me and soaked them in water and then blending till smooth and runy..started that yesterday and ever since his poop looks like a soft tootsie roll..he seems a bit stronger today

As for the "breeder" yesterday she offered me another puppy ( 1 of his brothers ) to see if that may help..at 1st I thought it was a good idea to BORROW him for a couple of days..she said no not borrow..I said no way I buy another she said no"for me to keep" suddenly I got the feeling that in the end I will have 2 sick dogs since this just sounded very off to me

Look at his gums a lot a go by that to give him the nutrical. His gums should be pink and if they are not you must give him the nutrical. I was giving her a lot and I mean a lot of nutrical that I kept asking asking my vet if it was fine and she said it was because giving her too much would only give her diarrhea. Oh and apply it directly to the roof of the mouth because the body will absorb it faster.

The change of food started right away..a/d and sience diet canned puppy food..The kibbles that I soaked in water from breeder is Pro Pac..He never would eat the kibbles on their own...cant even imagine his tiny theeth biting in them even thou they are tiny..was it a mistake to mix of the a/d with the soaked kibbles mush and still give him the sience diet every other time..is it maybe to much of heavy food perhaps to his tiny system. His diarreah seems to be clearing up..arrrg..he was stronger this morning and more alert then he has been since we 1st brought him home ,even then he didnt act like a puppy should , but we figured nothing some good food and tlc couldnt cure...but that was then Im so much wiser now..he suddenly had a episode..finally got him pept up again ..he is all wrapped up resting now...I feel so helpless once again...thank you for your prayers ...you ALL are a blessing
