Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | UPDATE and Need respondes on pancreatitis Izzy seems like she is on the upside of this pancreatitis her vet said. Her stool is no longer yellow and a pudding consistency. He said to keep letting her drink water because shes not vomiting and keep letting her have 1 teaspoon of food (hills I/d) at a time when she wants it. every few hours or so. He said that if she reverts back or gets worse then he wants to IV her but doesn't feel that she needs it right this moment. I need to hear others experiences regarding pancreatitis. I know that every fur-babe is different but there has to be someone out there who baby has had similar story. I'm wondering how long this has lasted and if they had up and down days etc.. This has been the most stressful and heartbreaking thing I have ever dealt with.

| I know there are dozens of threads here about it but when I search Pancreatitis only a few come up, so I guess it has been spelled wrong a lot What you are describing does sound familiar to me from being on YT. Stay in close contact with your vet, keep an eye on your pup. Here is a link that Ladyjane had posted a couple years ago that I think is very helpful. I am sure others with experience will come along and comment. Canine Pancreatitis

| Personally I think they do better with nothing by mouth when they have out. The last few times I dealt with it our vets sent home with supportive care as yours did and I felt that one dog did fine that way while the other would have been much better off in the hospital. The interesting thing was thay the dog who was "worse" did better at home while the one with the milder case did horrible.

YT Addict | My baby, Tink was diagnosed with pancreatitis about 2 years ago. She is 10 now, soon to be 11 in Feb. Since then, she would have random little flare-ups, where she would be uncomfortable, and vomit repeatedly, usually yellow bile. I would take her into the vet, they would administer fluids, and we would go home. Instead of treating the random flare-ups, my vet decided to put her on a prescription diet of Royal Canin low fat gastrointestinal food. Since then, I have not noticed any pancreatitis flare-ups. If she vomits now, it's usually just once, and it is just undigested food (this is an issue we are currently working on, but my vet doesn't seem too concerned). I hope this helps, I think that as long as it is managed well, and they are on a strict diet, with NO fatty foods, treats, etc. Praying for your baby's health! |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Thank you for the advice. That's what we are doing now. Isabella is doing much better. Vet check today went great other then her being scared. She eating, drinking and going to the bathroom normal. He is keeping her on the 1/4 Pepcid Ac at night. He think she has acid reflux with the pancreatitis.

| My yorkie is at the vet's right now being treated with IVs for pancreatitis. The vet has talked to me about diet but could not use ID due to the corn (Sophie can't tolerate wheat, corn or soy). I have read about making a rice, turkey, veg recipe low fat food. Does anyone know about this?
