Personally I think they do better with nothing by mouth when they have out. The last few times I dealt with it our vets sent home with supportive care as yours did and I felt that one dog did fine that way while the other would have been much better off in the hospital. The interesting thing was thay the dog who was "worse" did better at home while the one with the milder case did horrible.
