| Liver Problem Our Maggie May quit eating last Thursday and started vomiting. Took her to vet and they gave me anti nauseu medicine. No better by Saturday. Took her back to vet for bloodwork and levels were off the chart and sent me to emergency vet clinic in Indy. They did a ultrasound and found her liver to be 30% of a normal one. She is 5 years old. The only problem we ever had was her bad reaction to Trifexa, vomiting and diarea. That was about 6 months ago. She has been fine ever since. They do not seem to know what is causing it and have given up. They said they could do a biopsie but she might not survive. I have read that trifexa causes liver problems. Has anyone out there had this problem? I will let you know what happens. We are bringing her home tomorrow for her final days. Maggies mom and dad. |

| m-ping, I almost lost my Piper Girl after giving her Trifexis. She has liver damage and is on medication twice a day. Piper Girl was only 5 months old at the time she got sick. It was a miracle that she was saved. And lots of money. We maxed out all our credit cards to save her. She is 9 months old today. We don't know how much damage was done to her liver. We have to have her liver counts done once a month to make sure she is doing ok. We will never know for sure what caused this to happen. But, she was fine until we gave her Trifexis. The Dr. told me if Piper was a human that she would be at St. Johns on a liver transplant list. I don't want to give you false hope. But, if there is any way you can afford to take her somewhere else she could still have a chance.

If you can, I highly recommend you get the opinion of a board certified internal medicine vet. You can find one at: American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine > Home Good luck and welcome to YT. So sorry you are going through this with your pup.

| liver problem Went back to vet today. No change for Maggie. They were going to insert feeding tube today to see if she could keep food down. The vet that is treating her is a board certified internal medicine doctor. The hospital is one of the best in the area here in Indiana. We are hoping for a miracle. Thanks for your thoughts. Maggies mom and dad. |

| liver problem Maggie was treated at the indyVet Emergency & Specialty Hospital. The Dr who cared for her was a board certified internal medicine doctor graduated from Purdue in 1997 so this wasn't her first time dealing with liver problems. They gave her the best care possible. The ultrasound showed her liver at 30% of a normal one. What we don't know is why it happpened so fast. She was UTD on her vaccinations went to vet every 6 months for checkups and we thought she was fine untill last Thursday. When outside she was never offleash and there was nothing she could get into inside. Yesterday she lost her fight and went to sleep in my arms. RIP LITTLE PRINCESS |

My heart goes out to you as I know what you are going through. My baby, Nalah, also had a liver shunt, yet she was UTD on shots and just had her last bloodwork done in April. Her health went downhill so suddenly in three days and she, too, fell asleep in my arms on August 14, 2014. Again, we are sorry for your loss. Condolences. | |
