My little girl has developed allergies and it is aggrivated by the grooming products I have used. She has had a really bad reaction to GNC Shampoo and now there are several products I have gotten from the vet that have the same consequense as well.

The product is not placed on her head or face even though she does need something used on her lower face to clean her but I have been using just water and doing the best I can to keep problems from developing. Any suggestions on a very gentle shampoo. Not only has my little one gone through this on more than one occasion and I don't like putting her through it. I have spent quite a bit of money on these shampoos that she can't use and given them to my family members along with vet visits and the amount is adding up.

I wish I could find samples and she does require a conditioner but I haven't been doing that and noticed a change in her coat from not conditioning her.

have you tried looking at all the ingredients to pinpoint what she may actually be allergic to or visit a dermatologists?? they may have samples for you to try and may be able to isolate what it is that she is allergic to.

Your poor girl! I agree, it would be ideal to figure out what ingredient(s) your pup is reacting to.

What kind of eye reaction does she have? My boys are sensitive to heavily scented grooming products. When I used Chris Christensen Day to Day, their eyes were very watery and itchy, and they acted depressed. Max suffered corneal ulcers that were primarily environmental factor related, but I am still really careful with his eyes. I use only SPA facial cleanser on his head and Vellus conditioner on his beard. Vellus shampoo and conditioner are very mild (they have a $25 sampler pack --dilute products).

I also have to be careful to use lukewarm water on his head, nothing too hot or cold.

"Coat Handlers" is another very mild, not heavily scented line of products.

She will get really bad watery eyes and she can't open them have to be kept in a dark area the light bothers then and they swell to where she is unable to open them. Living in a rural area we don't have the access as most others the reason for reaching out. There are products out there that are that I am not familiar or a recipe that I could make to mix only when needed to use to remove the items that are in just about all commercial products. They also said the pollen levels we are having could have contributed and this is the beginning of her having allergy issues.

The swelling and sensitivity to light are concerning. Does she have eye discharge as well? She may have dry eye in addition to conditions caused by allergies -- that might explain why the bathing/shampoos are such an irritant. With dry eye, corneal ulcers are a big concern.

Sounds like she does need to see a specialist. It would be worth the drive. We are like you and don't have a local specialist. The closest ones are an hour away.

In this case, you may want to try baby shampoo, but just on her face/head...would that help?

To me, it sounds like there very well could be something else going on w/ her eyes bc the reaction is SO severe. Can you see a Vet Ophthalmologist? They aren't cheap, but it might be necessary for your kiddo's longterm eye health.
