Piper Update Got home little while ago from visiting my Piper Girl. She looks so much better today. They have her off the Dextrose and she is holding at 117 blood sugar. Hoping to hold over night. That will tell us whether she will get to come home or not. That cute little bark is not her normal bark. But, I will take it. She had just gotten back from a walk outside. She ate quit a bit for me. Then called in my arms and went to sleep. She seems to rest really well when she has her mommy. So much noise in the ICU. Even the Dr. said they don't get enough rest with all the noise. But, oh what great hands she is in. If she can hold her blood sugar above 100 for the next 2 nights she will get to come home. We will still have a long hard fight on our hands. But, we are ready for it. She will get all the rest and love she needs from mommy and daddy. Now I just have to wait to see if she held her own over night.. Please keep us in your prayers. We have only just begun. |
Thank you for updating Bobbie! I am SO glad your sweet baby is improving. Continued prayers.... |
Continued prayers! |
Oh so happy for Piper, Bobbie, Tony, Piccolo and Linda!!! It's amazing how wonderful things happen when good people pull together...Linda has helped many of us through very tough times - there is no one better at what she does. I'm so glad she was there to help guide you through this - it is so overwhelming at times. You continue to fight, Piper! You can do this baby girl!!! Sending Yorkie hugs, kisses & prayers from "Lola", "Harley", "Nash" & Valerie |
Wonderful news! have they said what the toxin was? Have any tests been able to determine that? |
Great update. I'll take anything positive as excellent news - it beats bad news and says there is hope. Piper is a fighter and doing all she can do get well. I'll bet your visits and your reassuring arms and voice and scent all leave her hopeful that she is coming home one day and isn't going to be apart from you all forever. I will keep praying that she gets well and can come home. |
I do hope and pray for that miracle...that Piper's glucose will remain steady, that she continues to eat on her own getting stronger with every bite, and that her liver enzymes improve. Could she have eaten a mushroom/toad stool out in the yard? This is something my vet feared had happened to my Winston...his glucose at that time was 24...dangerously low. Or possibly an Insulinoma, I pray not...but this is a tumor of the beta cells of pancreatic islets. Winston's specialist suggested the possibility of doing a liver biopsy for insulin storage. Fortunately, it never came to that...he is 10 years old now and doing fine. I pray you have a similar outcome...Piper doing fine 10 years later. If you want I have plenty of information on this...it was a terrifying time for us, I know this must be extremely difficult for you...sending smooches to Piper and hugs for yourself. |
I have been keeping up to date here and on fb... just want to say I have been sending prayers and am so glad Piper is getting better |
Sweet little Piper, hang in there and get better so you can come home to mommy and daddy. Lot's of Yorkie Talk friends are praying for you to be well and to make a full recovery. |
She is to unstable to do a liver biopsy. when she pulls thru this, and is much stronger, we will have one done. We need to find out as much as possible when she is able to go thru the proceedure. |
Hoping Piper had a good, restful night. Fingers crossed for a positive report this morning! ~~~"Lola", "Harley", "Nash" & Valerie |
Has anyone heard any updates on how Piper did through the night? |
Update on Piper Wednesday Morning We are on the rollercoaster again. Blood Sugar dropped to 65, ALT's remain the same. High at 770, ALP went from 217 to 517, Billyrubin from 0.2 to 5.5, Ammonia from 2 to 36. So we took a turn for the worse. They are going to give her a new antibiotic and are going to do a True Cut Biopsy, we may or may not learn something from it. But, I am not giving up. She is still very alert and eating. So, we will fight until she gets better or they tell us there is nothing that they can do to save her. :aimeeyork |
Come on Piper fight for all those that love you! You can do this girlie. Are you able to be with her for some time today? My heart goes out to you all. In my thoughts, prayers, and healing light. |
Wish the news were better. Hoping the biopsy gives some answers. |
I have spent time with her everyday. I am leaving work early this week so I can be with her. I am lucky to have an understanding boss. Instead of working 4-10's my boss is letting me work 5/8's. So I can spend as much time with her as possible. |
Oh no, I am so sorry she has taken a downward trend. Prayers still being said for sweet Piper. |
Bobbie has the Breeder of Piper been made aware of the medical problems that Piper is having? |

So sorry to hear things have gotten worse again. Still hoping it will turn around and she will recover. |
Thinking of you and Piper. Hoping & praying she'll bounce back from this. |
so sorry to hear it's still a roller coaster, you sure have a fighter on your hands, I bet she has the whole staff wrapped around her little paws. I am continuing to pray for you and Miss Piper the Fighter |
Hi Bobbie, I am so sorry to see Piper's not doing well but it sounds like you have a spunky little one that refuses to give up. ;) I learned of your precious girl through Linda Freeman's FB posting yesterday and that darling baby's photo and video made my heart melt. Even though she's ill, her determination shines through those beautiful eyes! Although it's been through such a sad circumstance, I'm so glad you and Linda were able to meet and that she's been there to help you through this. I will continue to keep you and Piper in my thoughts and prayers. |
Everyone has said it all, I cannot add more, you are going through a lot and I know how that feels. We are all praying for lil Piper, and for you. Take comfort knowing everyone here on YT is here for you. We all love our babies dearly and know the pain you are going through and lil Piper. Stay strong for Piper. (((hugs))) |
Still praying for Piper....and for her family. I hate that she is so sick...precious baby girl. |
More prayers and best wishes for Piper! |
They tried to do a scope biopsy today but could not. They put her back on IVs and her blood sugar is up again. They have started her on Nutrical and are going to try to wean her off the IVs again. They are going to give her until Saturday to regulate her blood sugar. Just a short update...I am sure Bobbie will more than likely update tomorrow. I know Bobbie and Tony are so grateful for all of the support/prayers for Piper. |
So hoping to hear Piper is holding her own. She is such a doll baby. What indications are the vets giving you? What do they suspect has happened to her? I pray her liver function improves, she certainly has the fighting spirit. The biopsy that I referred to in an earlier post was for glycogen storage not insulin. I misinformed you on that, I went back and reviewed notes from Winston's specialist. Her words exactly were ""liver biopsy for glycogen storage". Know that I am praying very hard for Piper and wish only the very best for her. |
Thank you Linda for the update. I am continuing to pray for Piper and her family. |
