Update on Piper
 

Some good news on Piper. her enzyme levels are way down. Not normal yet. But from 5700 to 1680. Normal is 120. So we have a ways to go. Still don't know what has caused this. But, do know that the treatment is working.

She is adorable! I am so happy to hear that her tests are showing improvement. Sounds like the ALT is elevated. That does happen with certain exposures...they will get to the bottom of it, I am sure! It happened to my Olivia and her blood work is now normal...she was at 2,600 and scared me to death. We never knew for sure what caused it but she did have some exposure to Lepto so it may very well have been that. The good news is that the liver does improve with the right treatment.

Piper is adorable! Sending well wishes for her recovery!

Piper took a turn for the worse overnight....her mom is on the way to see her.

Please pray for this precious puppy.... and for her mom who is so very upset right now. Yesterday she was doing better and things were looking up..now this. :(

Piper is in liver failure. They are doing everything they can for her. She is in ICU and getting the very best in care.

Blood work is going to be repeated this afternoon and we will then know more about how she is responding to treatment.

Her mom said she looks terrific and she did eat for her; but clearly there is something wrong. Praying that things are better as the day goes on.

I'm first reading this thread & I feel so so sorry for you & little Piper. You're in my thoughts & I'm so hoping a treatment is found for her.

Oh, that poor, sweet little thing. I'm so sorry but pray the vets can find a way to get her through this crisis. Thank goodness she's in ICU and under constant care. Hoping and praying for good news soon.

Poor little Piper. I pray she gets better soon. I hate to see little doggies sick. It's so hard to watch them be uncomfortable.

Small update on Piper
 

Linda just called and heard from the owner, Piper is improving! They still don't know what's wrong but things are looking up. Hopefuly Piper's owner will come back on soon to update us. Keep up the prayers!!

Update on my Piper Girl
 

Just got the call. She is responding to the new meds. Her Billyruben (spelling) count is back to normal. Her blood sugar is still low, but is also getting better with the new meds. They said she is pipier than she was this morning and is eating. Not too much, but is eating. They will be running test in the morning again. She is still not out of the woods yet. But has shown signs of improvement.

I want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. I just found this forum,and I'm so glad I did.

I especially want to than Linda Freedman for all her support. She has help me thru all of this. Even tho we have never met. I feel like I have made a life long friend.

I will be going to the hospital in the morning. I will update ya'll when I get home.

Bobbie, that is very encouraging news. What in the world do they think happened - eating the human food? I know a piece of ham almost did my Jilly in and brought about a series of gastroenteritis incidents that almost ended her life and I had to stop feeding Tibbe any human food when he was about 3 years of age - until then he could enjoy a bit of pizza crust or even a tiny sliver of pepperoni, things like that occasionally. But once his MVD began to flare up, all of that had to stop - totally.

Linda is indeed a wealth of information and a tireless help for dogs in trouble. And she offers wonderful support when we have our own personal problems. She's another remarkable example of the YorkieTalk family who gathers 'round and pitches in when life deals us a terrible hand and she's one of the best.

I know you are exhausted and need rest so get all you can tonight and update us tomorrow as you can. You could take an old t-shirt of yours with your scent on it to leave with Piper to help her stay calmer and more reassured there at the hospital when you return to see her. Give Piper a big hug and kisses from Tibbe and me and all of us on YT.
