| ![]() Thank you everyone for your worries and support. I did take her to the vet first thing in the morning. Ran blood tests, and xrays. Her white blood cell count was at 82'000 but lucky and amazingly her kidney and liver were surprisingly in acceptable levels. Diagnoses was pyometra just as ms Elle May has assumed... Thank you so much once again. My baby Popi was so weak so the the doctor put him on IV and proceeded with the surgery few hours afterwards... After around 7 hours later I received a call from the hospital that the surgery went well and she is in stable condition.... Thank god... I requested she stay on doctors watch and on IV until she regains more of her strength just to be on the safe side.. I will be going tomorrow to check up on her and will bring her home the day after tomorrow... My learning experience from this will never be forgotten and I would like to thank you all for your worries... truly a great community... I am a first time owner of a very small yorkie weighing normally 4-5 pounds but at the vet she weighed in at 3.4.. and never knew of such issues yorkies come across such as hypoglycemia as well.. Thanks to everyone here I have learned so much.. |

| ![]() Please get a wonderful book I recommend to all my new buyers....Yorkies For Dummies.....it is a MUST HAVE if you own a Yorkie...it covers most of what you need to know basically, for owning a Yorkie. Another book I always recommend is Yorkshire Terriers: A Smart Owners Guide. You can get both of these on Amazon.com. Please let us know hopw your baby is dooing today....you have really been given a second chance with this baby, as the issue that those with experience could so easily see in this pup, could easily have killed her. You are still going to have to watch her very closely to be sure she continues to respond to her post op antiobiotics, fluids, eating well, etc. |

| ![]() So glad you took her to the vet and had her diagnosed and treated, but sorry she is going through all this. It is hard gaining experience with a new pup and it is great that you came here for advice and acted on it. One mantra is true and that is that symptoms should not be allowed to continue without a vet visit. Better to be safe than sorry as bad things can happen fast with these little pups. Praying your baby recovers and will soon be a healthy and happy baby again. A scary time for you. Hugs. |

| ![]() Waiting so long was really a big risk. They can collapse right before your eyes. I'm glad she made it throught the surgery and that you have learned more about how fragile these little ones can be. Wishing her complete recovery |

| ![]() So glad to hear you got her to the vet and she is being treated. She must be a strong little fighter to have made it a week and a half without treatment, and I'm sure you realize now that she might not have made it. I do hope she makes a full recovery, and that you will make her a promise to take her to the vet sooner, if she is ever again sick. This is also a learning example to other owners of female dogs, that this is completely avoidable by having your girls spayed. Good luck, my prayers are with your little one, and do keep us updated when you can.

| ![]() [quote=Ellie May;4348364]Welcome to YT. I'm happy she is doing well. Pyro is such a serious condition/infection and they can die very quickly.

| ![]() Oh, no! Discharges, head hanging, no interest in food or water are all bad signs! She can't talk, but if she could she would be begging for Help! Many vets will let you set up monthly payments if you know them, or if they don't know you they can at least check your credit rating to see if you make bill payments on time, and then set up a payment fee you can handle. You can also "charge" your pup's treatment on your own credit card at most vet's hospitals--call ahead of time & ask what cards the vet accepts! Taffy had a Badly broken leg when he was a year old. Our vet tried a cast, but when she x-rayed after one week, the two broken bones were out of position! I followed her advice and let her call the Veterinary Specialists in Charlottesville, Va. She got the veterinary surgeon to come down in price $500.00 because I had already tried to get help from her hospital and had paid her bill; I had not expected that kind intervention by her, but it was very much appreciated! Now, I had to have Taffy at that surgeon's office the Very Next Morning as the surgeon said his bones might never "knit" together if they were not quickly realigned. Taffy now has permanent screws and plates in his front leg, but you would never know it to watch him tearing through our house today. I drove for almost two hours to get to that specialist, and I put it all on my credit card! (Oh well, at least I got back my own reward card points back for that $2,000.00 surgery!) They also had a very reasonable "payment plan system" right at their hospital which owners could setup through GM Pet Care Card for owners who needed a credit card for vet bills! This hospital handled really difficult cases -- the injured Va. Police dogs were sent there, I found out later. Two top qualified surgeons! So, go to a vet NOW, and they can get your little girl treated, and you can make time payments if they have this. Our vet said some owners don't come because they "hate the idea of paying the vet bill", but many vets will try to work with their clients on payment options. |

| ![]() Sorry my email right above this one came in after you had decided to go to the vet's office! Now, you don't need all the ideas on vet payment options! Ha! I started my email to you around lunch time and got interrupted by company, then husband came home for dinner. By the time I got my long email done and sent, you had already taken her to the vet! SO HAPPY YOU GOT HER THERE IN TIME FOR VET TO DO SURGERY!! Keep us posted on how she is doing! LOL, Sue and Taffy |
