| Not eating and moving. Please help.. My yorkie has been acting very strange lately. She is now 4 years old was always very energetic. After she was in heat and 1 week later she is acting very lethargic and will not eat. I do have another male yorkie living with us but have no idea if they have mated. She walks very slow with her head low. I did notice she has some slightly yellow discharge from time to time. The only time she would get up is when she wants to drink some water... It has been 1 and a half weeks and she is still acting the same. Her eyes are very round and looks like shes very alert but just keeps her head down and looks around. She does not cry or moan but simply does not move.. I have been giving her nutri-cal and pedialite. Can you guess what is wrong with her?... Please help... |

| Welcome to YT. Pyometra (uterine infection) needs to be ruled out. This could be a medical emergency. If this happens to be the cause you will lose her without treatment. Go to the ER immediately. Better safe than sorry.

| Lethargy, loss of appetite, increased drinking, vomiting, etc. She needs to go to the emergency vet tonight.

| Am I reading your post right.... that she has been like this for 1 1/2 weeks? Please get her to the vet immediately, this sounds serious. Here is a link to info on pyometra Pet Health Resources | Disease | Pyometra in Dogs | University Animal Hospital

| I'm not usually one to run right to the ER, being a people ER nurse, BUT, this sounds pretty serious! I'd go to the ER vet.

| oh wow....please take her to the vet before you loose your little girl. These little ones can go downhill quick...much quicker than bigger dogs with more mass to their bodies. If you have an intact male yorkie living with your intact female yorkie in heat...and you did nothing to separate them and keep them from breeding, most likely they mated or tried to mate. Heck...accidents even happen to people who try to keep them separated. Did you plan on breeding your dog??? Please, please consider spaying your little girl for her future health and well being. There are too many things that can go wrong with these little guys during a pregnancy. Last edited by theporkieyorkie; 11-15-2013 at 03:27 PM. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Hopefully you have taken her to the vet by now. I always erroneous the side of caution and take mine in at the first sign of a problem. Yorkies can go downhill very quickly. Please update us as we are very concerned. Thanks
