| Thanks everyone! I didn't ask her for money but did let her know how much the surgery was. We started stretching yesterday. One person has to hold him while the other pulls on his leg back and forth gently. He screams with pain but the vet said he would, and gave us pain meds... Thank you fellow Yorkie friends for your support! |

| How's your pup doing now? Is he using his leg? Hannah had her surgery done on 12/20/2013 and I can tell that she feels better but she is still on 3 legs and refuses to use the other one. I am massaging her hip and putting heat on it and have swam her in the tub once but I'm not wanting to push her since we are just 2 1/2 weeks post surgery. My vet says she's doing good but she may need PT as well. She doesn't want me to touch her surgery sight or extend her leg and she's even growled at me for touching her front legs??? She's definitely in 'watch where you touch me mode' but I think I would be too if I had my hip operated on.

| Every pup I have been through this surgery with was using the leg right away. Amazing, but then I do use a specialist and I swear they make smaller incisions and that might make the difference. Adina's incision was about 1" which was just amazing! I have seen pics posted of horribly long incisions from general vets. It always frightens me...one time I met someone whose general vet had cut the sciatic nerve on her pup. Awful.

| My vet had me confine her for 2 weeks so I limited her activity. No running or jumping...I just started letting her out of her stroller and x-pen to run around the whole house. She goes full speed if I don't slow her down even on leash. My vet told me that she thinks she got used to holding that leg up. Now I feel scared that she is taking too long to recover. She is also acting very spoiled and asks to get in her stroller. If no improvement by next week I will have her x-rayed to see why.

As for confining them, I have never had to do that for FHO surgery, but your vet must have a reason for it.

| Ok so I'm so stressed out that you know that pain you get under your shoulder blade??? Well I got it big time. So ready to leave work. It's so hard to focus on pushing paper after being home with her for 2 weeks. Ugh!
