Thank so much ladies . . it has been a long road and we still have more ahead of us. I think the steroid will actually help her with her allergies this fall so that is a plus! I am so happy that she takes the pills very well rolled up in just a small piece of bread.

Its been a while since we've checked in and I know there are many of you who would like to know how things have been.

Update: Brandi is doing better than she was, there is no infection is gone, no swelling or redness in her mouth, no green mucus in her eyes. Her apatite is back. Drinking tons of water !

She has been diagnosed with AID and recently has shown sign of the disease. She has been on the steroids for over 5 weeks now. Slowly prescribed reducing the dose to see what dose is the best for her to keep the AID under control. She had gone from 15mlg / 10mlg than now to only 10mlg every other day. She still has 12 days to go before she will be done with this round of steroids and I have been looking for any chance in her illness and it does not look good. I notices after a week into the dose being lowered from 15mlg to 10mlg she now has a dry nose with crusty spot on the rim of he nostril. I have also been checking her paw/pads regularly and there is no sign of any crusty dry spots. The only good thing about the lower dose is she isn't peeing all over my house like she did when she was on the higher dose.

So, I called my vets office today to see where we go from here and they put her back on the 15mlg per day for two weeks. I will be keeping a very close eye on her in the mean time.

I'm glad she is feeling better but sorry there are so many problems. Poor baby. What is AID? I pray that her condition will improve soon. Hugs to you and baby.

Correct, Auto Immune Disease and sadly it in incurable, she will live with this and we will have to manage it with steroids and whatever other meds are needed for the rest of her life.

Wow, I am so sorry to hear this diagnosis. In reading the link you provided, this can't be cured but it can be treated. Hopefully she will respond well to treatment and this won't cause her too much difficulty, know that she will remain in my thoughts and prayers. Just be sure to watch her very carefully for any signs of inflammation...sounds like you have to control this illness so that it doesn't in turn control her. Hugs...to you. Kisses...to Brandi.

Oh yes . . we are keeping a very close eye on her. Just the slightest sign of anything different with her and we are on the phone with or at the vet a.s.a.p you can bet on that !

Its been such a blessing knowing that everyone is praying for her.

She did fine on the 15mlg and the 10 until about 10 days into the lower dose. So , back up the 15mlg and back on routine potty breaks. That is one of the downfalls of the steroids. She pees a LOT and if you don't put her out right then she will pee right in front of you. So... we are always on our toes and always putting her out which what seems like every hour on the hour.
