2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | ![]() Update: Brandi is doing much better today. She getting her appetite back, she ate too small portions just his morning. Going to see if I can get her to eat some moistened kibble. She is much quicker on her feet now and goes outside willingly. She is sitting in her favorite spot right next to me instead of in her cage. Her mouth is still a bit swollen and inflamed but nothing like it was just two short days ago. Drooling has stopped but she still has a few times a day when she gags on her own saliva. I'm thinking all of this could very well be an abscess tooth. We'll head back to the vet once the swelling has gone completely down and she will allow me to get a good look. She is still very cautious about her mouth being touched and I don't want to irritate it again. Unless thing should take a different turn I will check back with everyone in a few days..... should have lots of great new by then. Thank you for all of your input, concerns and prayers. I really do appreciate it so very much and if my girl knew how much support and show of love and prayers she was receiving she would thank you too . .

| ![]() That's wonderful to hear! I've been following your thread & I'm so glad that Brandi is finally getting some kind of relief. I'm interested to see what the cause of her condition was. Thanks for keeping us updated. I'll keep my fingers crossed for your little angel.

| ![]() Yes, what a relief, I've been concerned. Does she usually allow you to explore inside her mouth?

| ![]() I just saw the pics, poor Brandi! I hope she'll feel better soon. It's hard not knowing what caused it, what could it be?

| ![]() I'm so relieved to hear she is doing better. If it is possibly an abscess, it needs to be addressed as soon as possible. These infections can spread to the brain. I recently had an abscess, and it made me sick for quite a long time. |

| ![]() I am oh so happy that Brandi is doing so much better, hopefully another day or so will bring the swelling and irritation down so that you will be able to get a good look and see what in the heck has been causing her to be so sick. Has she had a recent dental exam? I'm still wondering if it wasn't a sting or bite. Poor baby, I really feel for her and hope she is finally on the road to a full recovery.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() I'm really happy to hear that Brandi is feeling better and is able to eat some. I'm continuing to pray for her and that the swelling goes down so the vet can find out what is the cause and heal her. Sweet kisses to Brandi from Jasper and me. ((((Dawn))))

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | ![]() Update: She is doing much better, not quite back to herself yet. She is eating more than she was but still not back on her dry kibble. She lost some weight but has that pep back in her step. This is the last day for her pain meds and I hope the pain is gone and she will continue to eat. Swelling is down Yay redness had cleared up and eye is much better too. We still have 9 day to finish up her antibiotics. She has been honking and wheezing which is new. It doesn't happen that often but still I'll ask doc about that when we return for our follow up visit just to be sure it is not related to what is going on with her. I looked in her mouth as best she would allow me to and either I have no idea what I'm looking for or there is no abscess tooth in there. Maybe there is an I just cant see it. If not I don't know what caused her to be so sick. Hubby did say he saw some red berries on a vine out by the dog run. He wondered if she had eaten some of those but that would fall into the lines of poisoning and vet says they are very doubtful is was poisoning. I am at a loss as to why, I wish I knew so that we could prevent this from happening again. I am thankful that it was not able to be spread to the other three pups.

| ![]() I'd be worried about pneumonia from all the saliva and stuff... some may have worked it's way into her lungs.

| ![]() My little angel Ashley had an assessed tooth when she wars 16.5 years old, and we were certain that it was causing her great pain and anxiety. My vet uses eastern and western medication, and he has many people coming from all over the US, particularly the northeast because they are referred there as a last hope chance. Over the fifteen years that I have been going there, I have heard so many miraculous stories from people whose doctors referred them to see Dr. Wen when their own vets said they could no longer help their babies.. Because of all of these miracles Dr. Wen performed, I am a believer in his alternative treatments. He mostly used conventional medicine on my girls because they were difficult to pill, but I saw miracles, even with my own pups. http://t.today.com/today/allday/mira...5205?app=false As you can see, I love him and trust him implicitly. He is always very fair and honest. Because of a collapsing trachea, he wanted to treat Ashley with steroids, something he was normally very against because of the side effects. Ashley had huge gas pockets in her belly because she was taking too much air into her belly because of the trachea. My husband and I couldn't bear to think about Ashley being in pain from an infected tooth. My vet didn't think it was causing her the anxiety, but we believed it was. It was the only time we disagreed with the prioritizing of his treatment plan. We opted to delay treatment using the steroids because we believed the dental was really important for her. As a result of knowing our little one, the dental made such a huge difference for Ashley. Her anxiety lessened substantially after the dental, and she was eating much better. Ashley was sixteen and a half years old when this assessed tooth was pulled. We found out a month later that Ashley had Caning Cognitive Dysfunction which also caused extreme anxiety for her until she started medication for that. I know this is long, but I wanted to tell you how much having that pulled helped Ashley. I hope it does the same for Brandi if that's what it is. Last edited by lisaly; 08-07-2013 at 08:33 PM. |
