| ![]() I HAVE a copy of his blood work....like 2 pages of blood work! Some of the stuff they asking for isn't on his blood panel they ran. and his Creatinine has changed bobbing up and down the past 4 days so much. wasn't eating this morning. I tried SOJO'S and chicken and rice. He ate a tiny bit of Recovery mixed with Canine Renal support in it. I tried pill pockets for his other pills, he turned his nose up. Usually he woofs them down. Then threw up what he'd ate. We're going to the holistic vet today. She said don't try to give him the pills yet. I think at this point, he'd eat canned food well, as bad as I hate canned, and most of it junk. |

| ![]() Have you asked about mirtazapine? It was a miracle drug for one of mine.

Could he be needing fluids? Many dogs lose their appetite when they even start to become dehydrated. I use chicken baby food to give mine pills. I've never been successful using pill pockets. No matter how small I make it, they always bite into it and then spit it out. Some folks use cream cheese, peanut butter, butter, tiny piece of lunchmeat....

| ![]() You must be so upset that little Adonis is not eating, and now not being able to take his meds. Even though the ingredients in prescription canned foods do not look great, dogs seem to eat and tolerate them when all else fails. Hope he is taking some liquids. I give Beech Nut chicken and gravy if my dog will not eat and he usually will eat that. Not a long term solution, but may give him a little nutrition. I know you are very concerned and frustrated at this time. Praying the holistic doc can help him recover. Hang in there, he will get well soon. Thoughts and prayers. Hugs. |

| ![]() When dogs are in renal failure it is VERY common for their appetite to be affected. It has nothing to do with the food ... usually they will turn their noses up to anything. As for RX foods, the one I have had the most success with in terms of palatability for the pup is Purina NF. This is why I always suggest a person speak with their vet about Mirtazapine. I have had some pretty amazing turn arounds with it.

| ![]() Huge turn around on his eating. My vet said give him anything he'll eat. I'd looked up a list of canned foods that were recommended for his condition, and took it to my vet. She checked the good ones she'd recommend and marked out the ones not to give him (the cheap stuff with duck beaks and krap, LOL). I picked up some Blue, fish and sweet potato, and some Innova canned. He LOVES both. So he's back to eating very well now! WHEW... I've had a house full of company since he got home. They just left this morning. Down to 1 big pill, 2x a day. Its a big capsule, so we have fun those times getting it down. I'm afraid he'd choke on it if I gave it to him in a pill pocket. Its called Rehmanna Six. Also takes Canine Renal Support, as well as something for his bones. We go back to my holistic vet Friday, and get blood work again Sat. But so far, so good. He's drinking, barking when he wants to go out, sleeping through the night, no inside accidents. Keeping my fingers crossed. Right now, he's doing SO much better. I found a CRF for dogs and cats on facebook. Its been very helpful too. Waiting to hear back about the Heart Guard. And I will NOT be putting the Advantage II on him. I'm going to start using a mixture of 3 tbsp water, and 3 drops of Lavander oil on a bandanna, just waiting on vet approval. |

| ![]() Thank you for the happy and positive update. You must be so relieved that he is eating, taking his (big, ugh!) pills and behaving as he should. Now peace reigns in your home after the guests left and Adonis has you to himself. It must upset their routine when the house is full of new people and dogs! You both should sleep well tonight with all looking good. Praying he continues the good progress and gets his mojo back. |
