| Glad to know Yogi is feeling better. Never give a dog meds without consulting a vet first. I know how desperate you can get but sometimes you can do more harm than good. |

| I'm freaking out and hysterical Yogi was unable to stand up as if he were tipsy, he whimpered a sound I never heard before. Rushed him to ER waiting to hear he was admitted but no news yet checking for liver shunt problem. I'm praying |

| YT 2000 Club Member | So thankful little Yogi will feel better soon. We all forget how delicate these little Yorkies are and I have to watch ole Spud jumping off the couch. I have stairs there but he forgets to use them. I hope little Yogi will be healthy soon. |

| Well it's terrible news and I am beside myself with grief. The ER vet is pretty sure Yogi has a portosystemic shunt. I am reading all about this and the dr gave us stuff to read. We will know more tomorrow with x rays and further test results. We were able to see Yogi and hold him for about an hour. He has to stay over on iv . He is still disoriented and crying. It is so horrible to see your perky happy puppy like this, it's awful. If this is confirmed we will go to a specialist and see if diet and meds would work or surgery. It depends where the shunt is and how many etc. if anyone knows about this and has advice let me know. I just want my baby back healthy whatever it takes. Thanks |

Don't go for diet and meds. Get the surgery. I did some research on liver shunts recently and everything I came up with was that surgery is risky but has a very good success rate. Diet and meds seem to just prolong life but the pup is always fighting it - hard life. That is from my research online and here. Now, I know others here have actually gone thru this and they will give you MUCH more knowledgeable advice. I will just say that if it were me, I'd do the surgery - no question. Praying for Yogi! You are such a GREAT Yorkie Mommy!!!!! Here are a couple of helpful links: http://www.vetsurgerycentral.com/pss.htm http://www.akcchf.org/canine-health/...ic-shunts.html
