| ![]() Well, all I can say it that this is the second thread of a very sick dog and neither of them went to a vet. Perhaps the symptoms on these dogs are not as bad as you portray them. I suppose that could be. I just hope and pray both King and Oreo are ok. I do understand the high cost of vetting, believe me! ![]()

Tylenol is TOXIC to dogs. Pepto Bismol can hide symptoms making it more difficult for the vet to identify the problem. Benedryl is fine, if you're sure you're treating allergies, and your vet says to give it. Baby Aspirin is fine if you're sure there is no internal bleeding involved, or your pup could bleed out (bleed to death). Human antibiotics are never good for dogs or especially puppies. If you have antibiotics left over from your children, you're not treating them right as all antibiotics should be given as directed till finished, or risk creating a super strain of bacteria that is resistant to antibiotics. Then you'll have a sicker child and a sick pup on your hands.

| ![]() I don't exaggerate the symptoms of my dogs. King has been to a vet EVERY time there has been an issue, as far as Oreo, she was at the vet recently. She will go tomorrow. Not everyone is blessed enough to be able to have the resources available to get to the vet immediately but you can be sure that I love and take care of my dogs to the best of my ability. Like I stated, I do not ask questions in substitution for medical care, I asked questions for advice and to learn things from the experience of other pet owners. Obviously saying I was misunderstood was an understatement. Love my dogs, do anything for my dogs, will always do so and I guess maybe this isn't the right forum for me. |

As for resources available....I don't have them either and recently got slammed in a way that I am still reeling from. The bottom line though was that I had to find a way for my pups or they would die...their symptoms were that bad. Take it whatever way you want. I am sorry you feel that way but it was not intended to be malicious in any way.

![]() ![]() ![]() To the OP, In understand not having unlimited funds for treatment. However, I also know that small problems can turn into big ones, and more expensive ones -- and home remedies can get your pup into bigger and potentially fatal trouble. I never give meds to my dogs unless directed by a doctor.

I am not being condescending or hateful. Merely speaking what I know to be true. We all love our yorkies. That is not the discussion. The discussion is about sick dogs and their care. So sorry you feel the way you do about this discussion. Perhaps you did not like that people posted that your advice is dangerous? I cannot apologize for that because people need to know such things...someone could follow your advice and lose a pup. I would think that you might want to also be aware of the fact that this could kill your dog(s).

| ![]() I hope you are able to find out what is wrong with Oreo today. It is frustrating and scary to see a pup struggling like that. Three of my pups have episodes of reverse sneezing which sounds like gagging but no mucus comes up. It scared me at first, and a trip to the vet confirmed what it was, and now I know how to help them out of the spasms when it happens. I don't mean to confuse you, as Oreo sounds more serious than this. Only a vet can tell you for sure, so good luck and I'll watch for an update.

| ![]() Hi Cindy When I read your first post I was really upset. Not at you, but as the breeder who referred to your pupppy as a throwaway. I don't want to think of what she was going to do with the dog if you didn't adopt her. Would she throw away a child with birth defects? Well bless you for taking her in and trying to help her. I know the cost of vets these days. Our shih tzu was abandoned and we adopted him. He is two years old and now suffers from juvenile cataracts. The surgery is going to cost about $3500.00 but before that we have to cure his liver problem. His enzyme problem is almost cured right now but it's costing us over $500.00. So I know how you feel. I have the Care Credit card also but I think this is going to go over and above the limit on the card. Some people on this forum get a bit carried away because everybody loves their babies but for the most part this is a great forum. Anyway our prayers go out to you and Oreo. |

No one is accusing the OP of being careless with her dogs; I think the'yre worried that the dog does need to go to a vet asap, in case of pneumonia or something just as serious, or more serious. Of course, your opinion is welcome here - and it sounds like you want to talk about this when you say "more to come from me on this later". If you do need to discuss the general nature of posts on YT, I'd prefer you do that in a separate thread so that this thread can be focused on this pup who may be sick. Fair enough?

| ![]() I do not mean to offend anyone, but was trying to take up for someone. I think we all have alot of issues going on and have lost pets lately and maybe are just too hypersensitive. That is probably my case for sure. God Bless you Cindy for all that you have been going through on other levels and for taking care of these babies on top of that. As far as my tips on what I have done with my dogs in the past, all but one of these has come from a vet here that I know. Sorry if they offended anyone. Thank you for the warning about Children's Tylenol, I had no idea about that. Again, I apologize, I am new here and would like to be friends with everyone. |
