Yeah.... the place where Riley had his was very swollen. I don't think it was sensitive or sore though cause I remember feeling it a couple of times and he didn't flinch or anything.... I have been giving Riley Benadryl eveyr 7 - 8 hours since 3pm Saturday afternoon.... he got the shot around 8:20a.m. that same morning.... I think he is just this morning starting to really not need it...

So my thing was.... Riley didn't have his reaction right away. He had his about 6 - 7 hours later.... which would be just about the time the Benadryl would be wearing off. My regular Vet is supposed to be calling me tomorrow. I am going to ask him and see what he says.

| Riley is soooooooo CUTE!!!!!!!!! awwww glad he's feeling better! When Dexter had his reaction to his vacs, it happened within 1 hour and it only took 1 dose of benedryl for the symptoms to go away, granted it took 8 hours for the symptoms to go away after the dose I gave him (at home, at the instructions of the ER vet). So his was not as severe as Rileys was, I guess thats why the Benedryl shot works for him in conjunction with his vaccines now.

| Just reading this, so glad that Riley is feeling much better. It's just so scary when something happens to our babies. I just posted a thread that Hot Rod had a reaction to the Lyme vaccine. Fortunately his reaction was not as severe as Riley's but just as scary nonetheless. Give Riley lots of big hugs and kisses!

| I'm so glad Riley is feeling so much better! His reaction is just another reason I'm reluctant to have Neo vaccinated with his "yearly" shots. Other than his 3yr rabies, I am afraid to get him his multi vaccines because of his bad allergies. I know I will have to if he or Connor go to day care or obedience classes, but I just can't make myself do it now. |
