| I would try not to focus on what it COULD be. That is fruitless imho. Just know that she does have AAI and could have other conditions. Deal with what you know and don't let things frighten you any more than needed. She could have a ton of different things...and then again she might not. One thing at a time!!!!!

| Please keep in mind that these conditions are treatable! Her condition(s) cannot be all that bad because of her lack of symptoms. Do not read this as not severe enough to worry about or to have treated, but that she is mildly affected at this point in time. The spinal tap is done at the same time as the MRI. It will determine if she has any irregularities in her cerebral spinal fluid.

| Honestly it will depend on what they find with the prior testing, including MRI. They do not automatically do a spinal tap. (and, yes, if they feel it is indicated, they will do it then) I think you need to chill out a bit and try to not worry about what is going to happen. I am SO sure the specialists will explain everything to you in detail.

| Thanks ladies- I know I am a complete basket case. But it is just killing me the things I am going to be putting her through, and just when she is happy and peppy and feeling soooo much better after all the pain and suffering she has been through- And now I'm going to traumatize her again. I know exactly why I'm doing it, but it still is excruciating just the same. and I wonder-what if I lose her because of either the MRi and the anesthesia or the surgery. How much more could she have lived happily with supportive but conservative care. I know I shouldn't be thinking these things, but I just can't control my mind. I am scared all the time now. I worry night and day when she shakes her whole little body, or barks with enthusiasm. I can't wait for Tuesday, so I can finally get this thing resolved-at least with a plan to do or not do the surgery. I'm just so devastated by all this-I feel like I am having a nervous breakdown. But you guys are keeping me sane, so thank you all....so much again. This is the very best outlet, I am practically living by my computer. Thank you all for being there. Shellie |

| Shellie, slow down....you are not taking her to do anything on Tuesday! You are going for a consult! Yes, they will more than likely want to do an MRI, but that is when you ask them about the risks during the MRI. Unless they told you not to feed her for testing, they probably will not plan on testing on that day. You don't even know yet if surgery is an option. Slow down...deep breaths...one thing at a time! Get a tablet and start writing down all of your fears and concerns. That way, when you go you will have a list of things to ask the specialist. And...pray for faith to replace your fears right now...it helps!

| Oh, and btw, it is easy for me to say these things...not quite as simple to practice it. I do relate to being worried sick over a pup....been there many times.

| Update DR Feinberg called back and said his radiologist confirmed Cassie absolutely has AAI. I asked him what he thought about this whole thing and he said he feels really fortunate that he didn't know about it at the time he did the dentistry, because he either would have been a wreck putting her under anesthesia and pulling all those teeth, or he would not have done it at all. He is amazed at how well she's done all these years and how many trauma's she has pulled through, from xilotol poisoning to pneumonia twice, to the two dentistry surgeries. He is hesitant to say what he would do. He says--as all of you do-- we need to do the diagnostics. But he says one wonders if we should mess around with this because of a set of accidental X-rays showing this condition that no one knew existed after more than five years....conditions that she had compensated for herself all along, whether we should go in and try to correct something that she managed to compensate for on her own, and that this might do more harm than good and upset the equilibrium and balance she managed to create in self correcting her own body. Maybe she would be able to live out her normal life span with no adverse effects. He says he just doesn't know how she lasted so long thus far given all that she has been through. However, the fact of the wear and tear on her body after five years, and whether there are any other conditions, and that maybe she could go at any time if she doesn't have the surgery--we don't know-it's a big risk either way, but if the surgery was successful and could give her years and years of a quality normal life span of course that would be the optimum thing to do. We both agreed it is a tough call, and right now it is a waiting game until Tuesday, but he feels confident in her ability to get through the MRI okay. So that is the latest so far. |

| She would be out for the MRI & spinal & both are normally done at the same time. They can see a Chiari & AAI & Hydrocephalus in an MRI & measure spinal fluid & see if there is blood or infection in the fluid with Spinal tap. |
