update I called VSH and inquired about AAI experience of the neuro's there. I just wanted to find out about how many surgeries their most experienced doctor performed. It was like I was asking if he had robbed the Federal Reserve. I mean, as a consumer, am I not entitled to ask these questions? The girl seemed greatly annoyed and even insulted. She stated that Dr. Lipsitz has over 30 years experience in the field. I said yes, but about how many AAI surgeries did he do? How many successful outcomes? I swear it was like I slapped her in the face. She said she didn't know and the Dr. was seeing a patient, and she'd have to get back to me, but I really don't know if she will. Did I say something wrong? Did I overstep my bounds and unintentionally insult the Dr.? PLease someone, let me know. I thought this was what I was supposed to do, as a worried and concerned pet parent. I have to call Dr. Bob and ask him for a referral to a VSH NEURO, as he was classmates with two of them and told me he would talk to them about Cassie when I was ready. I'd love some feedback from you guys. Shellie

Was this girl that you talked to just a receptionist? And if so, I'd see if you can get the doctor to call you back. Sounds like someone had her knickers and a twist, and if you do talk to the doctor, I'd let him know how you were treated.

Thank you everyone, I was really worried there for awhile. I didn't want to alienate the Dr. before I even met him. Especially if he was to be working on my baby. I left a message for Dr Bob, yet another player in this nightmare situation, I will talk to him soon about a referral to one of the neuros he knows personally. I keep wanting to wake up from this nightmare-when I realize I AM up!!!!!!

Update Spoke to the lady who seemed a little nicer now. She says 15 to 20 surgeries. He says they are pretty rare. This worries me. It seems like such a small amount for a guy who has been practicing for 30 years. What do you think? I am pretty sure this is the neuro Dr Bob will refer me to. Should I be worried? I was disconnected from the girl who was talking to me, but she said Cassie will be on a vent after surgery and i'm panicking........... Have to call her back to make the appointment as she hasn't called me back after she disconnected me.

Also, what are the benefits of a spinal tap? What would it tell me? Do I need to do this, is it really necessary? What does it mean when Cassie keeps jerking her head back? A short spastic jerk. This behavior has been going on for some time, especially when she was eating and had upper respiratory congestion. My vet said it was because she couldn't breathe well and eat at the same time, but the upper respiratory congestion is pretty much gone, especially with the pneumonia resolved, and I just saw this behavior again today. And she didn't do it while she was eating. Any ideas???? Will call VSH now. TIA :-) Shellie

Advice needed-please post opinions In the meanwhile, as I am waiting for a return call from Dr. Bob, VSH, Dr. Feinberg and Tamera, I have a million questions that I am worried about. For instance, should I let Muffin and Cassie be together, or should I keep Cassie isolated? Since her teeth surgery and with the pneumonia gone, she is feeling so much better, she is so much perkier, that where once I would be overjoyed to see her so spunky, now I am terrified. She shakes her head a lot and when she does this i feel as though I am going to have a stroke. I can't stop a normal head shaking behavior, I know, but how worried should I be. Another question. Due to Cassie's illness she hasn't been groomed in months. I am so afraid of having her groomed, yet i think she is all tangled and dirty and that cannot be healthy or good for her. Should i or can I have her groomed. I was going to have her get a puppy cut and cut off all of her gorgeous beautiful silky hair. I think it would be easier for her, cooler and easier on her head, but should i allow a groomer to wash bathe and groom her? Oh-just got an call from VSH-have an appointment with Dr. on Tues. July 3rd 11AM. Thanks all-and also, what is Chiaro???

updatE Talked with Dr. Hildreth (Dr. Bob) He is going to call VSH and talk with the neuro about Cassie, kind of introducing us and easing the way. So waiting for Dr. Feinberg and Tamera to call. Meanwhile keeping Cassie isolated per VSH staff.
