| You can give Pepcid as I said. I just did not say what dosage and all because I thought you should ask your vet first so that you could tell him about Tibbe's symptoms. Yes, it is OTC

Do others with dogs on H2-blockers use that much? Back in the early 90's, my Jilly was on Cimetidine for a while but it came from the vet in a dropper bottle & her dosage was some amount in the dropper. Does anyone else use an OTC H2-blocker prescribed by the vet?

| Pepcid is not a big deal. My concern here is that none of us can diagnose and treat...and Tibbe is on a steroid. Could be something else besides GERD. I just think the vet should know about the symptoms and make the call about meds. I would be calling my vet...probably no need for an appt.

You need to call your Vet to ask about the strength. As there is 10mg and 20mg and what it needs to be broken to.

Im sure your vet or the ER vet can tell you for sure how much to give. I would definitely ask them first. I am eager to hear if an H2 blocker does help.

We did the 10mg in 1/2. It amazes me the human meds that are prescribed for animals.

| Oh, I would never give him an H2-blocker or anything else after being told I couldn't use the Maalox without the vet examining him again, though Monday the other vet there mentioned we might have to put him on Pepcid or something like it. I was just shocked to hear that they would let you give cheaper OTC version of it & something frightfully expensive from the vet clinic. That would be a plus, an OTC drug for Tibbe, since his vet bills have been mounting this year! Plus, that 1/2 pill sounded a bit high for a little Yorkie but maybe in Jack's case, he needed that size dose. I sure hope if he does get started on it, it helps him so he doesn't have these up & down days of not feeling well. I know I have new lines in my face from these last few weeks!

| Thanks. He's a different acting dog after his bad bout this morning but I'm prepared to go to the vet should he start acting sick again or have any more reflux-acting behavior. He's been playing tugowar with his flossy bone & barking at the kids out the front window. His little ears are up and he's even baited me to play with him some so for now, we're okay but we'll be getting another looksee by the vet before we move forward, just to be sure something more exotic isn't going on.

| Ashley had IBS, and along with Reglan, she took Pepid AC (over the counter) daily. I was concerned about long term usage (silly, I know, with Ashley almost seventeen), but her doctor said that Pepcid would not harm her. I hope both you and Tibbe feel better very soon.
