| cost of medication for our fur babies Hello I just wanted to share about cost of medications for Remy. She is on prednisone... which seams to be a common medication used for many conditions and illnesses in dogs. My vet charged $65.00 for 30 pills. I started doing research online and found petmed charged $35.00 for 30 pills. I asked for a prescription and took it to walgreens and I was chared $10.00 Big difference if you consider how long she will be on prednison (at this point I had 3 months from our vet--- I could have saved $150.00 ish dollars) Moral of my story? Of course I was more focused on saving Remy but now that we are in the long haul of her treatment saving money where I can safely is a good thing.

| Honestly, that is an outrageous amount to pay for prednisone. I am stunned that your vet would charge that much. I just purchased prednisone from my vet last week and I paid $17.20 for 30 5 mg tablets. I actually purchased two bottles because I have two pups on it. Not offensive, but now I may get an RX and go to Walgreens. LOL Thanks! We really should always price check meds for the pups the same as we would for ourselves...thanks for that reminder Shinja!

| The vet price is very high! I'm glad you found a less expensive alternative. Check out WalMart too. They have a list of basic meds that are a flat $4. Max's muscle relaxer was only $4. I've purchased a 2 week supply of prednisone from the vet for my boys, but I don't recall it being that expensive. I'll have to look at the receipts. We are outside of the big city, so our vet costs are lower and that might be the difference.

| I agree -- $65.00 for 30 tablets is crazy!! I just looked at old invoices and I see my local vet charged $35.00 for 30, still high but not so bad. The neurologist is the one who charged $65.00. Thanks for the suggestion of walmart Kristen. I have also heard target charges $4.00 for some meds. I hate to say I was already at Walgreen and tired, $11.00 didn't sound so bad

He enrolled Titan in a prescription plan. It cost $20.00 a year and I paid nothing over $15.00 per prescription. This was definitely a God send to me & Titan. Thank God I was able to get the medicine he needed. With going to two Vets a month and a monthly round of chemo, two CBC's a month, & all the medicines he gave us 2 more years of a happy life. Miss him terribly. Titan is actually my Avtar.

| How do you guys use your vet's prescription at Walgreens? Do they accept Vet scripts? or did you go to your family doctor and get a prescription for yourself for the same medication and then simply give it to your dog? |

| Does any one here have a vet who gives good prices for prescriptions? I like our vet but her med prices are ridiculous. I think it is an industry practice. I am not judging any one for doing it because they have families to take care of too. But I would always look else where because 9 out of 10 times you will be able to fill that script cheaper.
