There was a contract, I would have to look for it. I don't want to sue her From what the vet said when i asked him what causes this he said a combination of genetics, and trauma, rough playing, jumping off the couch/bed which she did a lot. She is very active normally. And then the fight with London triggered it i think, it's such a sad time.

They can usually tell which it is. It might be he is not sure from the xray...MRI will show more. In genetic ones, I believe the dens is missing or not properly developed.

Personally, I would not worry myself about what to do about the breeder right now. You have enough on your plate taking care of Livie. You will always have the option later on if you change your mind.

I am so sorry to read about what your sweet Livie and you are going through. I am livid that someone would post such hateful thoughts about your baby during this difficult time. There was a recent poster on YT that was saying similar evil things abut Yorkies in general and perhaps it is the same person. Pay no attention to these pathetic parasites who feed off of other people pain. Buster and I send love, strength, and healing thoughts to you and Livie. Bless you and your baby girl.

k thanks. Did not do an MRI, that would have been about $2000 more, they just told me from looking at xrays what she had, so I'm glad they were able to detect it.

thanks. Don't think it's the same person...maybe idk but this guy is from Panama. i accepted him a while back because he has the same last name as me and i thought maybe he was family, as i have cousins from my moms country that request me occasionally and i've never met them. So i never bothered to unfriend him. A while back he told me he was having a daughter and that he was going to name her my name(sarah) so i was like okay, thats nice. Then when she was born he kept messaging me telling me to go look at her pics and what do i think. i don't know this person so i never replied and he started calling me names today, a bit** and saying he wants to burn Livie. i think he's just psycho, needless to say i did unfriend him after that. lol But yea people can be really hateful and mean, it boggles my mind. To wish an innocent animal pain and death, that's so cruel.

Like ladyjane has said, dont worry about the breeder right now....you have enough to worry about....she has been made aware of the problem, and THAT facet of the issue can be addressed at a later time!
You have crazy people out there on Facebook that will write horrible things....you dont even need to be going there at this time. You have enough reading material right here on this forum, where you are surrounded by people that genuinely care about you and your baby! Stay off Facebook with this! You are going to get your feelings hurt!!!

It was just a general pic i had put on fb for my friends,(one of my best friends that knows what happened asked for a pic) for the most part they were wishing her well and concerned, it was just that guy that posted that. Only people i have as friends can see my pics, i just have to filter my friends list now, as i do have some people i don't know since i've had fb since freshman yr college. lol

i'm sending lots of prayers for livie, and for you. seeing her in that cast just breaks my heart! poor little baby. i know this must be so hard on you as well. i hope and pray that you can find some way to get her the surgery.

as far as the care credit... you can apply online or over the phone. they most often tell you right away if you're approved or not. i personally used this for myself several years back when i needed a lot of dental work (about $7,000) and it was a life saver, as i got everything i needed done right away and eventually paid it off. they charge no interest for the first year as long as you're on time with your payments. if you pay it off completely within a year there will be no interest charged at all. after finding out most veterinarians (even specialists and er clinics) accept care credit too, i keep the card for my 2 girls. here's a link to their site.

CareCredit Healthcare Finance - Payment Plans and Financing for Cosmetic Surgery, Dental, Vision, Hearing, Veterinary & Other Medical Procedures

i'm so glad to see that others here that have been in your position have offered so much advice and support! that's the most wonderful thing about yorkie talk! you and sweet livie will be in my thoughts and i will be checking in for updates and hoping and praying.... sending hugs

So glad to see you are back on with us. I just spoke to the Neuro Dept at Cornell Univ. in NY. They quoted a cost of $7500 which includes the imagining needed, etc. You are in an expensive state.

NCSU quoted us $5K for Zhoie, however, she didn't need another MRI, nor did she have to stay in ICU and there was no complications involved so our total cost ended up being right under $3700.

At NCSU you pay $3K up front to move forward with the surgery.

I called NCSU and they will take CareCredit for payment and you can apply right on line and get a quick reply.

If you opt to go to NCSU, go in there the ER, that way you don't have to have a referral and wait around for an appointment.

Oh, Zhoie was stablized in the ER overnight and then referred onto Neuro the following morning. I figured there would be a separate bill for the ER, but no, that was the total cost including the ER stay and care.

Please consider going directly to NC, is that a possiblity for you

If the distance is to far, check on the facility Morgan used for her Georgie which is in MD.

Also you could call Penn State vet school in Beaver Falls, PA and get a quote.

I have read other stories of successful surgery in Ohio. There are many options to out there, just be diligent and find the one option that will work for you and your girl.

I believe the surgery is less costly if you can get it down before other neuro symptoms occur, such as paralysis. Please know, I'm not trying to scare you. This is a life threating situation and this is the progression of the injury, but if you get the surgery done before hand it's easier on your girl and the overall cost.

Using a vet school is going to less costly than a neuro private practice.

Sending prayers for your and your baby.

Yes it is sorry LJ I should've added that. Georgie did not need an MRI and it didn't take the neuro long to even review the x-ray (you can see the x-ray on the link in my siggy)

Care Credit is a great option for something like this. I have an $8k CC card and have it in case something happens to the pups. Look into it....They also have no interest for a period of time, and if you pay it off before then... It's great.

I am really sorry you are going through this with Livie She looks so uncomfortable.
