| Anyone have experience with thyroid tumors?? Pepper is sick I have a nine year old female, Pepper, who is very ill. She only weighed 2.5 pounds before she was sick and, I'm sure, weighs much less now. She has growths on either side of her neck--two on one side and one on the other. I've taken her to the vet several times, had her teeth cleaned, she took ten days of antibiotics, and now the vet has her on thyroid medicine to see if it helps. The growths seem to be getting bigger and now seem to meet in the front of her neck. Has anyone had any experience with something like this?? The vet thinks it's probably tumors, and I can only guess that they are malignant. I've been feeding her whatever she wants--the last few days it has been Vienna sausages...she didn't eat at all on Wednesday, but has eaten really well yesterday and today. |

| Why has the vet not either diagnosed this or referred you to a specialist? I do not understand guessing something like this. I would be in another vet's office asap!

| Let me add this: asking if someone has had experience with thyroid tumors is not really going to help her....you don't even know for sure if that is what it is. I am so sorry she is so sick. She needs good vet care immediately!!

| I am sorry she is having the growths. I would definitely see another vet. If you have taken her a few times and he "THINKS" it is probably tumors I would think he would test to know for sure. You could be worrying that it is a cancerous tumor but it might be something else. It could be something else and by waiting it could get worse. Why thyroid medicine if he is not sure there is a thyroid problem or did he diagnose her with a thyroid problem. Could she have an abcess from something that went wrong with the tooth cleaning. The infection might cause swelling in the neck area and she could be getting sick from the infection. Please take her to another vet just to be sure. At least then you will know you were her very best guardian and advocate. I hope you find out what is truly wrong with Pepper please do not be so scared of the diagnosis that you do not check to find out what it really is. Sending prayers for Pepper and her Mom may they find out what is wrong with this little fur baby.

| I'm sorry your baby is sick. If it is a thyroid problem, even thyroid tumors, this would be very easy to diagnose with a full thyroid panel sent to a lab (my whole human family has had every thyroid problem imaginable). Please see another vet, ideally a specialist. Be careful with the Vienna sausage. It is extremely high in fat and could cause your baby additional problems like pancreatitis. Sending prayers for your little one.
