| She is a character...she runs my house! Never a dull moment when Cookie is around. She really has her very own unique personality. When she first came to me she drove me nuts...I prayed for the day I got her out of here and into her own home.....she was not to leave. My son still jokes about it....he was like "you did what?!?!?" when I said I had adopted her. He really did not like her....hahah .....now he loves her and she him. She grew on all of us. She takes care of my sick pups and puts up with so much from Kiche jumping all over her. She also cleans Adina's eye each day...she has microphthalmia and has to have her eye washed daily...funny that Cookie does that. But try to get her to listen...if she is outside and I try to get her in before SHE thinks she should be in, she turns her head and looks up as if to say, "if I can't see you, I can't hear you". No way can you get upset with her...I just let her be Cookie!

| My vet had faxed Cookie's labs to the specialist. He called today and was very pleased with Cookies results. He is cutting her prednisone down to every 3 days instead of every other day. She is to be retested in four months. As long as she remains as she is, he is going to take her off of the pred!!!! I am so excited. I really had not expected to hear from him since she is fine. He had originally told me she would be on it forever. I swear it is the diet that Dr. Lenox put her on!

| I hope you are right about the diet doing this!!! And a life with less or without prednisone for even a while has got to be a good thing. I'm pulling for sweet Cookie and hoping for the best for her. And praying!

| Oh, they do know that diet is a key to treating this. I was told at the onset that her diet was ultra important!

| Congrats to Cookie! I am so glad to hear that Cookie is doing remarkably well on the diet. My Pebbles was diagnosed this past January with PLE. Could you tell me how to get ahold of Dr. Lenox , the nutritionist? Thanks Pebbles Mommy |

| Thank you so much for the reply! I live in the Houston area so that is fabulous that I could take Pebbles for a visit to her office. Pebbles is holding right now, the albumin is slowly creeping up(2.1) after 7 months. She is on a homemade diet , I consulted with an organization called Balance It out of California. I make the food and use their supplements. My vet suggested them. The reason I need to shake this up a bit, is her skin is flaking badly and hair falling out, probably due either to disease or combination of meds, prednisone and atopica. I would really like to sit down with a nutritionist and see what I am missing. Something is wrong for her to have skin issues. Thanks so much for the info. Will try the facebook route! |
