| I think she needs a return visit to a vet. Something is definitely wrong. Unfortunately, poor vets are working w patients who cannot speak to tell them what they are feeling. It makes diagnosing a bit challenging sometimes; sometimes requiring repeated visits to get to the bottom of things. I would also worry there is more going on. Please take that little baby to the vet.

| I agree. If your pup is actively yelping, then the best thing to do is go to the ER. Was an antibiotic given? Are they sure this is just anals and not something else?

| I hope you can take her to a more specialized Vet. and get to the bottom of what's happening to her. Seems too much medication has already been given and I sure wouldn't want to put her on yet another.

| I agree, it sounds like there could be an infection going on. Often when there is an infection the anals can fill up again in less then 24 hrs. I have a little one who suffers from seasonal allergies & that makes his anals fill up quickly. My vet gives him antibiotic & I have to empty his anals daily while he's taking the antibiotic & the infection clears up but without the daily expressing the antibiotic does not usually completely clear it up. |

| If there is an infection, antibiotics should be given. If there may be, antibiotics are usually still given. I would just let the new vet assess whether an xray is needed. If they decide they want to see the whole body, then usually two views are taken. However, the lighting needed for the abdomen and chest are different, so then you may need more. That's why they palpate all over first to try and isolate the pain. One xray view here is about $80 and then the second is probably $40 or $50. All vets have their ways of doing things. I have never heard any vet say they need to be emptied daily in cases of infection.
