I agree, if there is a smell (reminds me of the scent of elephants at the zoo) that you described, I am willing to bet anything that it was longer than 3 days. I am glad that maggots (!) had not set in yet! I am very, very glad that you are taking care to see this one through her injuries. |
ewwwww....one of their clinic cats had maggots on her wound when she was brought to them....I was there that day. So awful. :( She lives a nice life now and is a pretty kitty! |

Unbelievable! I can't imagine allowing that to happen and doing nothing. |
I agree with Cathy that you could not have prepared us enough or these photos. Absolutely shocking!:( I just don't know how you do it, Linda. I'm afraid to click on a photo on YT to enlarge it and you are seeing these things in person. You are one strong, selfless woman. I just donated funds to help Summer. I'm glad she is getting the medical treatment she needs. I hope she can find the love she deserves too. |
Poor little girl. Buster just emptied out his piggy bank and had me send the money to Yorkie Haven Rescue for Summer. He knows she is good hands now. |

If she was a stray, why didn't the "finders" get her help sooner? Who owned the doberman? Summer is wagging her tail now probably because she knows she is in loving, caring hands. |
Linda, that is such a horrible thing for little Summer. She looks so tiny. I believe she truly does know that you are all helping her now and she feels safe. They are clever and seem to "know" these things. She looks so loveable. |
Just when I thought you have shown me everything...good lord! Poor baby, I can't believe they let this go on. Maybe it was their own dog that was hurting her. That would explain the no report filed and the ear loss from a previous altercation. She may have been subjected to this for awhile in her own home. |
I know I say this over and over but What is wrong with people!!!! I just don't understand. The right ear missing because of being a possible puppy mill makes me sick to my stomach. And then to wonder how long this poor little baby has suffered with untreated wounds. :( The neglect is terrible. :( You are right about AC Linda. I couldn't do it. I get toooooooo mad. I would be in so much trouble because I don't know what I would do. Well, I have always said do the same thing back to the owner and let them see how it feels. Just disgusting. On a better note, glad the heartworm test is negative and so glad the vet thinks she will be fine. We are so thankful for all you do Linda. |

Linda, you continue to amaze me. Bless you, bless you, bless you! I've been hoping to see a link to donate for Summer, but I'm sure I can find it thru the YHR site. Hope Summer is on the road to recovery now. |
Thank You for the update. God Bless you Linda, the work you do is so important. We will be praying for her recovery. |
Oh...dear God....praying for this sweet baby. I'm in tears...how can anyone let this happen and not rush them to the vet. She is a tiny beautiful little girl! What a sweetheart to still wag her tail. Praying she recovers and finds a wonderful furever home. |
First of all, a huge thank you to all of you for your posts, PMs and emails...calls too. :) And, thank you to all who donated to Summer's care. Very sweet of you. :) You are all such a wonderfully supportive group and I am so grateful to you. It is so comforting to know that others care about this sweet pup. Now for her update which is a bit stressful to write. I stopped at the vet in the afternoon to check on Summer. She was very quiet....(I have yet to see the tail wag that they have seen :( ) ... the tech was cleaning her wounds. She has other wounds that I did not see yesterday...one on her front leg and one on her back...oh and one on her foot. She really took quite a beating. :( The vet did manage to get some of the necrotic tissue off of the wound on her neck today...just a part that was pretty much hanging on and it was easy to remove. The tech has been so good to Summer and has been trying to clean her up as best as she can .. the poor thing is so dirty. I just hate to see dirty pups. :( But, she is too sick to bathe. The tech has offered to take Summer home with her this weekend if she is stable enough to be out of a hospital. She is still going to need a lot of care for some time. Late this afternoon the vet called. He is my regular vet's partner (my vet was off today). Anyway....he said that he did not like the way her lungs sounded this afternoon so he xray'd her again and her lungs looked worse than yesterday. He wants to add another antibiotic that will cover any anaerobic bacteria This will be a third one...hopefully that will help. He offered to take her home with him for the night. I told him that I would be happy to take her to the EC or to Gulf Coast rather than put him out like that...but he insisted that he is happy to do it. He said that he and my vet spoke about it and there really is nothing that another place would do for her that they are not doing at this point. So....Summer is home with two vets tonight (his wife is also a vet). I am happy with this, but terrified that she will die. I know I should not think that way, but this is just so awful. :( Poor precious baby .. I cannot comprehend what has been done to her. So...please say lots of prayers for Summer. I am going to hope not to hear from him during the night...and hope that he will call me in the morning to tell me she is a bit better. Oh...and her blood sugar was 120 late this afternoon...so the force feeding is working. It also could be that the antibiotics are starting to work...hypoglycemia occurs when there is severe infection. |

I also hope to not read an update from you about Summer until later tomorrow saying that she\' doing better. I really hope she gets her happily furever after...she will continue to be in my thoughts. |
