| ![]() Honestly, it is not a cause for alarm. I spoke with them this morning and they are not concerned. This is a small piece of the big picture and her lungs are sounding better and better. It could be that this is normal flora for her. These bugs are everywhere in our environment! I probably should not have posted it I suppose because I know that people tend to freak out over such things. ![]() I got a great report this morning. They said there was no exudate on her dressings this morning and they may put off the dressing change. They are really thinking they can close the one side! ![]()

| ![]() She is in wonderful hands and they have done an amazing job with her thus far. We cannot loose a bit of hope. I am sure, as you said, they are capable of handling this and will deal with it if they see it to be a problem. I cannot help but feel thankful for her recovery so far and will continue to pray for her healing. ![]() |

| ![]() We are so glad to hear Summer's great report. It is good to hear they are getting these dog bite infections under control! Thanks so much for posting the pics. She is such a beautiful girl! It is so wonderful that she is given the vet care she needs. She really deserves a loving home.

| ![]() Let me be clear: Any pup adopted by YHR is fully vetted and anything we find is disclosed to the adopters. Summer will not be adopted out until we know that there is no risk to her or to other pups or people. I am sorry I have been as thorough as I have with the reports because they are not final! They are day to day things that change from day to day. I have only done daily reports because of the many people interested in her. As a nurse, I really should have realized that fear mongering would happen with just a few badly chosen words on my part. ![]() Until a final report is in hand and she has been discharged from care no one knows what her future will be. Sometimes a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. I had two people email me today with fears of being exposed to Summer. ![]() Again I thank all of you for your prayers and support!

| ![]() No, they reacted to the words resistant bacteria. The problem is that people do not understand that there is a difference between exposure and infection. I am still not clear on what has infected her. She had many bacteria and she is improving so there is a possibility she was not infected with something resistant. The immune systems of dogs and people prevent infections every day....just because a bacteria is present does not always mean it is a problem. I just said too much I guess. It was not anyone here PMing me..I received two emails, one from a person who had applied to adopt (quite a few people have). We are nowhere near considering adoption because we don't know how she will be once well; but for people to pull out without even know what is up is bothersome to me. It tells me that I said too much. ![]() ![]()

| ![]() If people would only stop and realize that basic hand washing is the key. I am a nurse also and work in a hospital-I have not had a sick day in 11 years. I am a wound care specialist so I'm dealing with some of the worst bacteria out there and practice safe patient care. The only horrible infection I have had was about 15 yrs ago in my thumb and I got that from having my nails done at a salon. We all have bacteria-our skin is loaded with it. This poor little one is on antibiotics, this makes her more prone to infection as antibiotics kill the healthy bacteria while killing the nasty bacteria. Let's just pray for positive outcomes for this little girl. LJ thank you for the updates and all you (YHR) do for these little ones.

| ![]() Oh sheesh! If people only realized all the potential things we can be exposed to in just a trip to the grocery store they would not even worry about this OR end up in the nut-house. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The above is so very true. I'm sorry Linda that people just don't understand it all. I know I do, but then I used to be a Vet Asst. It bothers me a well also that people would pull out with out knowing everything, that just tell's me one thing they were not the right home for her at all. I myself would not hesitate to adopt her. I know Summer will find a wonderful home. I for one love to see the updates on her, all this poor baby has been thru just makes my heart so very sad. You just keep on giving us the reports on her. We so appreciate it very much.
