Take your time detangling. Use a rat tail comb or a sharp mustache comb and work a little hair at a time.

when his hair is this long, I detangle everyday. Common doggie activities, or just wearing a harness is enough to tangle it back up again. He has little bald spots on his chest from the ones that were too tight to comb out.

Grr! I de-matted his butt earlier and I just found another gian matt. Where do they come from?????????

And yeah, I'd probably wait a bit on getting him groomed. But that sucks, I remember when Jackson's hair was a bit longer and the harnesses and stuff would tangle it up in that area. So hard to keep up with.
