I literaly smeared the syrup across his muzzle so he had to ingest it. Then he actually gave it a couple of licks. He ate the spaghetti so that's what made me think that it might be a poopy issue. Scary how these little guys can turn so quickly. Hot Rod says Thanks for the hug, he'll take as many as he can get.

| So glad to hear Hot Rod is doing better! Could it have been the Nature's Logic kibble I wonder... I had given mine Acana Pacifica (as a treat) & all were fine except Princess. She had yucky (fowel smelling TMI!) bowel movements & it had a little blood in it w/jello-ey stuff too. I gave her some sticky japanese rice (they love it lollll) & she was fine after that. I thought it was weird that she had a reaction like that to Acana because I was feeding them the same brand but different formula. Whenever I think of Hot Rod, I think of Maggie May sittin on him. hehee

| Glad to hear he is doing better, but I'm still going to go with I think something is wrong. Unless he has been hypoglycemic since puppyhood, he shouldn't have had an episode after not eating for a day (IMO). And he did have a few licks of food. I'd wonder about his pancreas and a few other things.

| Glad he is feeling better. It's scary when our babies aren't feeling good. Tila wasn't feeling good and she was her usual self the next day so I canceled her appt. at the vet thinking it was something she ate. She turned for worse the same night and I ended up rushing into the emergency. Turns out she had an anal glad infection. Boy was I racked with guilt, I did learn my lesson I will take her next time even if she seems to be doing better. Maybe it might be a good idea to take him in for a check anyways tomorrow. |

| I am just seeing this now. I would just watch him closely. IF he was indeed hypoglycemic, you need to take him to a vet for an exam imo. If he has not had an exam and/or lab work done recently, then that is what I would do...make and appt with his regular vet. It is not common for a healthy, adult dog to suddenly be hypoglycemic from not eating. The only time I have ever had an adult dog be hypoglycemic was when there were other medical issues; and I have had many dogs in my home that did not eat. I have had fosters that did not eat for a couple of days and they were fine. I won't venture to guess what was going on with him. Seems as if it were a fleeting issue..and perhaps it was because he had an upset tummy and/or needed to go to the bathroom. I would just watch him closely and if he shows symptoms like that again, I would take him to the EC. Hopefully, he is just fine now!

| Also, with regard to gum color....when a pup has not eaten and you are assessing gums, it is also good to touch them to see if he/she is hydrated. The gums should be slick to touch...if they are dry and sticky feeling, that is a sign of dehydration.

They were both fine when I left @ 12:30; we had been playing. He just climbed up on me after roaming around for a couple of minutes. Back to sleep in my lap now. Seems alert and as though nothing was wrong. Gums look okay. Will still watch him. Thanks.

last bloodwork was done in Feb @ dental time and everything was fine. Will see how he's acting in morning although its morning now. Lol. He seems okay now. Checked for dehydration by pinching between his shoulder blades, learned that with my cats...seemed fine from what I could tell. One thing I make sure that they drink after walks especially when its warm. I was also wondering if he could have gotten over heated from our walk @ 5:00. I usually carry him most of the way one way as he tricks me into it, lol. With hubby he won't act up. Could that be something? Being over heated?

| I'm thinking that hot rod is feeling better because Maggie may just climbed up on me and plopped on hot rod to sleep. Lol. Seriously, I think Maggie sensed that he was not feeling well before, she would not get too close before and she didn't try to climb onto me when I was holding him. Now she is curled up next to him. I have a picture but will have to post later; I took it with my phone and do not know how to attach from phone, will get it on my computer and post.

It honestly did not sound like he had overheated. They will pant like crazy and feel very hot when you touch them, especially their ears. It's pretty unmistakable. Happy to hear that he is better today!
