| I'm glad Hot Rod is feeling better and that you are taking him in to the vet. Sending him hugs and well wishes for a good exam.

| Well, Hot Rod is in great shape as far as bloodwork goes. He showed nothing out of the ordinary or abnormality. With the mucousy poo that he had must have expelled what might have been bothering him. He's been eating pottying regularly, a bit picky on food but overall eating almost his whole freeze dried party. Thanks everyone for all your comments, advice and suggestions. I very much appreciate it. I am having internet problems and I'm typing this on my phone, I'm about to go crossed from doing so. Lol I will post more when I get my internet connection back. Thanks again for everyone's help and good thoughts! Bo.

| That's great news! Did the vet offer any explanation for his gums being off color/possible sugar issue?

| Good to hear that everything is normal. It sounds like your vet is happy with just doing bloods, so he is probably just fine. I tend to be very cautious because it is easy to miss things. So doing more testing is something I'd strongly consider if this were Ellie (and if anything remotely similar happens again - that would turn into immediate testing). What heartwork preventative is he on? When was the last fecal done? Did your vet mention anything about a comprehensive fecal? Some bacterial and parasitic infections can be hidden. Hot Rod is likely at higher risk because of his diet. Sometimes these things can cause a dog to go hypoglycemic. That would be my major concern right now. Kibble, anal gland issues, and upset tummies should not cause hypoglycemia. When shaking stops and/or grayish gums come back to normal color after giving sugar to an adult, that just isn't promising to me. JMO

| No as I didn't have much of a chance to speak with her when she called me with the results. I have a message into her to have her call me on Monday when I can talk and she is back in so I'll update then.

She and I did speak about Hot Rod's issues with still picking his leg up that he's done pre and post lp surgery. Between 2 vets and surgeon, they all keep saying phantom pain. He runs like a nut when he wants to and jumps up and down like nothing. There was one time since his surgery that I can say it looked as though he did something and was in a bit of pain but then it was fine. Knowing that dogs hide their pain very well, my vet suggested trying Metcam to see if this alleviates him from lifting his leg. There is no rhyme or reason that he does it. He sometimes does it 10 feet or 50 into our walk or doesn't do it at all. He used to do it when he walked on the embankment of our lawn but started doing it on the pavement. He never looks as though he is in any pain. He doesn't sit down instead of walking or walk bow legged like he did. So once I get a chance to really speak with her, I'll ask her more questions. I realize that hypoglycemia is nothing to ignore but he's really been doing well.
