| Hot Rod not feeling well Hot Rod is not feeling well tonight. He was perfectly fine this morning. We were playing and running around. He's been eating and pooping pretty much on schedule. He's pooped today already. I thought it might be that he needed to do this again, as he normally goes 2x a day but hubby took him out and he had no interest. Long story short, he has not eaten today but has drank water. He's even refused sweet potato but did eat a strand of spaghetti. Last night we were doing some tricks and I was treating with Nature's logic kibble--first time they each have had it. Maggie May is perfectly fine. He's been wanting in my arms tonight and now he's starting to shake as I have on a pillow between my arms on my desk. I know from reading about this, it could mean that he's in pain. He did let out a kind of a dry heave after our walk but then cough like clearing his throat when allergy season was full force. I didn't give any treats at all today. I even made sure to pick up bully sticks before I left. Any suggestions or possible ideas? I am worried now that he's starting to shake. Thanks for your responses. Bo

| No vomiting? No appetite is not a good thing. Shaking usually means pain or discomfort. Could be abdominal or something else altogether with symptoms like these. If his gums are pink and he stays stable, you should be able to wait until morning. That said, I'd be considering the ER with these symptoms together. No way he could have got ahold of some that can't be digested, right?

| He was also very moany earlier and went into my workroom instead of being on the couch with hubby after dinner as he normally does while I do dishes. . He did come into the office when I came in here. This is pretty much normal behaviour for both of them.

No treats were given today and nothing was out of the ordinary like everyday.

| How off color? White, gray, blue, lighter pink? gums off color with inappetence and shaking - the safe thing to do is go ahead and go to the ER. You may get away with not (tummy upset, etc.). Could call and see what they say. But if the gums are really off color, no vet would (or should) tell you to wait.

| If they aren't pink, no need to call unless it's to tell them you are coming. It's likely an emergency. Best to have him checked. It may not be hypoglycemia causing the color change.

| Bo, I just want to offer support to you and hope that Hot Rod is ok. If it were me I'd go to the ER. I never take chances.

| okay talked to er and of course they said to bring him in. As I was talking with them I got some karo syrup into him and he started to lick it after awhile. his gums are getting better looking and I did get hubby to microwave a white potato as I didn't have any fresh sweet. Got him to eat a couple more strands of spaghetti and some of the white potato and a piece of sweet--I think it was just too old. lol He did run around a little and go over to the pad and pooped, for the 3rd x today! It was a small solid with a lot of gooey stuff. I did see what looked like a piece of sweet potato. I did give them a round of dried sweet potato yesterday. Took him outside and he ran around and seems to be fine again. He's not shaking anymore and is actually laying on my desk with maggie. whew, gonna be a long night as I am going to keep an eye on him but I think he had to poop. Hubby had just commented last night that he couldn't believe how much he had been pooping. I have noticed that when he does poop, it has been quite a bit and he regularly goes 2x a day and he had gone 3x here and there. Thanks for your prayers and thoughts everyone. And Thank You Crystal!

| In January Rosie had an infection that caused her to have some of the same symptoms you described. However, when I gave her Nutrical it didn't seem to help so I went to the ER. She had to have an antibiotic. She was shaking, not eating, etc. It almost sounds like he may have had a tummy issue since he used the bathroom more than usual. And not shaking any longer is good. Sounds like the Karo might have helped some! I would keep an eye on him for sure (as we know you will!) Glad he is feeling better!! Poor guy! Rosie says to send him a Yorkie hug!

I truly believe he was just stopped up and needed to get it out. Now he's sleeping across the pillow with his head on my left arm between my arms as I'm typing, as usual. lol
