| Please help peanut might have eye removed in morning! My little Peanut was attacked by a dog Sunday night. His eye was badly damaged, so we rushed him to the vet. The vet had to sew his eye lids shut. I was supposed to take him back in two weeks, but today I noticed his eye was still badly swollen and leaking pus, so I took him back to the vet. He said the eye is infected. Now they they want to remove the eye in the morning. Please help has anyone had a similar experience? Is it normal for them to remove the eye because of infection? Please pray for my Peanut! |

| I am so sorry for your little Peanut. Unfortunately, infection can damage an eye beyond repair. I would recommend getting in to see an opthamologist first thing in the morning. Sending prayers for your boy.

| Hi and Welcome to YT. Wish it could have been under better circumstances... So sorry about you and your pup having to go through this. I have heard of this happening. When the eye is too badly damaged, there's really nothing that can be done to save it, and with infection being present, it can be life-threatening if it's not removed. Many dogs do well, they feel better after the removal, and can adapt to their vision limitations quite well. I'll keep your little one in my prayers....

I just want this all to be over so my baby can go back to being the happy playful and loveable little sweetheart he was before. No matter what happens I will still love him the same! Thanks again! |

| I'm so sorry that Peanut was attacked by a dog. That owners dog should be responsible for the vet bills. I feel so bad for you and Peanut and I will say a prayer for her, and for you! I'm so sorry you are going through this. *HUG*

| Poor little Peanut. I am so sorry you may be facing this. It never hurts to get another opionion and I think I might have it checked out further before taking such a drastic step. I guess it depends too on how long you have used your vet and if you trust his judgement. I hope this little guy's eye can be saved. But, if worse comes to worse, its amazing how they adjust. Bless you for being there for him and loving him. Will pray for this little one. |

| I came home from work about a month ago to find my 14 year old toy poodle (never had any health problems) who's eye was soooo bulged that the brown part was on the side hardly visible. Took him to the emerg vet who went on to tell us that it was some type of liguid behind the eye. She said she would have to refer us to an eye specialist. My DH works in the eye dept at a hospital and insisted it was just an infection. They gave him a shot of antibiotic (per his persistant request) and sent us home with a bottle of pills. Within 2 days his eye was completely back to normal and no problems since. It sure saved us a whole lot of money. So why can't they just give some antibiotics to see if the infection clears up ? The shot works the quickest and lasts in their system for two weeks. Best of luck to your little love and keep us posted. |

| So sorry you and peanut have to go through this. I know how terrible it can be. Our little baby lost her eye and she adjusted so well we couldn't believe it. I think it was harder on us than on her. She was 10 when she lost it and lived another 5 years. I will be praying for peanut to well soon.
