I came home from work about a month ago to find my 14 year old toy poodle (never had any health problems) who's eye was soooo bulged that the brown part was on the side hardly visible. Took him to the emerg vet who went on to tell us that it was some type of liguid behind the eye. She said she would have to refer us to an eye specialist. My DH works in the eye dept at a hospital and insisted it was just an infection. They gave him a shot of antibiotic (per his persistant request) and sent us home with a bottle of pills. Within 2 days his eye was completely back to normal and no problems since. It sure saved us a whole lot of money. So why can't they just give some antibiotics to see if the infection clears up ? The shot works the quickest and lasts in their system for two weeks. Best of luck to your little love and keep us posted.
