OMG, I am just now seeing this. How terrible for your poor baby & you. I will pray for a Full & Speedy recovery. I HATE people who talk on their cell phones while driving as I have had some close calls on the road myself. What did people do before cells ? Oh I know , They survived as do I without one. I would deff make a Police report on this as well & make sure it is turned into HER insurance. People need to learn that are there are consequences for breaking the law. She is very lucky she didn't kill someone. UGH, Stupid people, I wish they would just outlaw the dumb things all together.:( |
I know it helped you to see that she isn't crying in pain any longer. I hope your little Pixie continues to improve. I can imagine how good it felt to hold her again - not only for you - but for Pixie, too. It was all so needless. Sending lots of hugs and kisses for Pixie as she recuperates. |
I'll bet Pixie really loved having mommie hold her in her arms for a while. Probably much needed medicine for her right now. I am just so glad she's getting better bit by bit. |
I am so happy to hear Pixie is improving and they have a handle on her pain control. I will keep her in my prayers. |
Just popping in to check on your baby...So glad to hear she's doing better...Also, so glad you sent the prayer request out! I, totally, believe in the power of prayer, and am so thankful for the YT praying mommys and daddys...Hang in there, you're little one will be all better before you know it...More hugs, Maggie |
If she still has no sign of bleeding in her tummy the vet said she can come home Thursday they will do an ultrasound Thursday morning. She will need to be confined for 6-8 weeks. The doctor said she should have no lasting effects from the liver damage as the liver can regenerate itself. The plate and pins will stay in her leg unless they start causing problems, he said sometimes they do and sometimes not, it is a 50/50 kind of thing. He said once it is healed there is really no need for them to be there but they do not usually remove them unless it is necessary, which makes sense, why make the dog go thru surgery and recovery again if they don't have to. I had the choice to leave her there or take her back to my vet, I chose to leave her there because while my vet has techs on all night and Pixie is not in immediate danger any longer i have a piece of mind knowing if she does need a doctor one is right there to help her. The lady who hit her called me today and she said she has just felt horrible about all of this and asked me how Pixie was doing. I told her the extent of Pixie's injuries and the surgeries they had to do. She was crying while she was talking to me. She said she was still going to pay the vet bills. I told her Pixie had been moved and that she would have 2 hospitals she would have to make payments to and asked her if she was aware how costly this was going to be. She said she realized that but she would take care of it. My vet called me about 1/2 hour later and told me the bill at that hospital was taken care of, i asked how much it was and they told me it was 2800.00. Then I called to check on Pixie and they told me the lady had called and left them a credit card number and just asked that they let her know how much the total was when she is discharged. I asked this lady to really think twice before using her cell phone while driving again. I said you could have hit me or God forbid a child and killed them. I said I realize Pixie is a dog, but to me she is my child. She said she learned her lesson and will never use her phone while driving again. She told me the police had been by to talk to her but she did not tell me what came of it. Thanks again for the good thoughts and prayers. I can never thank you enough for being here for me!! |
I certainly hope she did learn from this. I thank God that you both are still with us. Give Pixie lots of hugs & kisses from ALL of us too. |
I just started reading this and my heart sank. I am so sorry to hear that Pixie has been hurt so badly. I am glad to hear that she is feeling better and I know she will feel much better when she is in your loving arms again. I started saying prayers for you and Pixie the moment I started reading this thread and will continue until we know she is better. My heart goes out to you and I am sending out prayers to comfort you as well. We all know how empty a house is when our little ones are sick at the vets/hospital. Best wishes, big hugs, and much love to you and Pixie. |
I just saw your thread! My gosh for an awful accident! I'm so sorry this happened to you and Pixie, but very happy to see that she is going to recover! Poor baby. Hugs to you and get well wishes to Pixie. I'll pray that she recover quickly. So glad they have her pain under control. |
Well I am so glad she made the right choice to pay for pixie's vet bills and we should give this lady the benefit of the doubt that she did learn her lesson. We all know that sometime it takes an act of god (unfortunatley for pixie) to "wake" someone up! Please keep us posted on Pixie's recovery status. I'm sending more prayers up! xxxxx |
Praying for Pixi How is she doing I am praying for her. |
OMG! Home on Thursday! That is fantastic! Keeping my fingers crossed and sending prayers... The next time you talk to the woman, tell her that Pixie may require additional surgeries on her leg in the future, but hopefully not. On second thought, I'm sure you informed her of this already... So glad to hear she's doing better, I can't imagine how scared she was when she woke up from the surgery, she probably has no clue what even happened and why she wasn't home with you! Give her some Hugs and Kisses from us! What a good little girl she is! |
I am so happy for you that Pixie may be coming home on THURSDAY :D Thank God this woman seems to have learned a lesson and is taking responsibility for her actions  |
Just checking back in and seeing little Pixie coming home. She will feel so much better home with Mommie and her own bed. It is wonderful that that woman has hopefully learned her lesson and maybe keep her from killing someone some day. And paying the vet bills, too! I wonder how many people in a similar situation as this woman would have to be sued to try to get some money in a case like this. That is pretty incredible. It sounds like Pixie is very blessed to have not been killed. I sure hope things continue to go as well as possible for her. If you can, get your rest now as you probably won't get much for a few days after she is home - you'll probably just lie awake nights watching her. God bless and thank you for the updates. |
So glad to hear Pixie is doing better and will be home soon. |
