Please say a prayer 1 Attachment(s) My little girl, Pixi (she is my own yorkie not a foster) is at the vet in Emergency Surgery, we were out on a walk today and a car (the driver was busy on her cell phone was not paying attention to the road) and swerved u onto the sidewalka nd struck my Pixie. We do not know the extent of her injuries right now except her one leg is very badly broken. I just lost my little boy 11 weeks ago, i CANNOT lose her too. If you are the praying type please keep my little one in your prayers. |

I am beside myself. The lady stopped and I just screamed at her that she had to drive us to the vet, I was a couple blocks from home and I needed a ride to the vet rather than waste time and run home for my car, thankfully my vet is only 3 blocks from where this happened. She said Of course I will take you and she apologized profusely all the way there and made arrangements to pay the vet bill when it needs to be paid. I got a call from the vet about 5 minutes ago and they needed authorization to go in and stop the bleeding in her abdomen, they are not sure where it is coming from until they get in there. Her one leg is very badly broken and they have repaired it with a plate and pins. They almost had to amputate it because of the severity of the break. I should know something more shortly I hope I am on pins and needles right now. I just cannot lose her!!! I am still reeling over the loss of my little guy, and I don't know how I would get thru losing my baby girl too. I will let you know when I know something. |

I am so sorry to hear this. I am praying for little Pixie. Hopefully, all will go well in surgery w her abdomen. I think the least that idiot could do is drive you to the vet and pay bills. If you got her address, husband and I will be by later to take that cell and bop her over the head with it a couple of times.... |

OMG! I would call the vet back and tell them they have Card Blanche, and that you give them permission to do whatever is necessary to save her, do not wait to make a phone call for permission! I have seen many 'Hit By Cars' in my career as a vet tech... most do amazingly well, so I have a lot of Faith that she can pull through this. In the meantime, I will be praying like a maniac... |
Now that really is terrible. Damn cell phones and idiots. The driver could have killed you and the dog. I hope you get some good news soon. You are in out thoughts. |

Pixie is in recovery. She made it thru the surgery and they have stopped the bleeding. Her liver was lacerated. They are monitoring her very close and they said she is not out of the woods yet. Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers. I am a wreck right now and cannot even think straight. I will let you know when I know anything more. Thanks again, i feel so helpless right now. I cannot even do anything for her. |

I am so sorry your little pixie was injured so severely. I hope you were able to obtain the drivers information and ID. My opinion is that she ought to be paying for these vet costs. Did the police show up? It is not too early to file a police report on this accident. Clearly the drivers fault . I hope she will heal well and is going to be ok. She is in good hands at the vet, and I am sure they will do their best for your little baby. |
OMG this is just horrible. I will certainly say prayers for Pixi. I just read that she now out of surgery and in recovery. Did you call the police and file a report? That is my biggest Pet Peeve, People on Cell Phones and driving. There is nothing that important that can't wait. |
She has already offered to pay the vet bills. The police did not show up, honestly we did not even call them at the time, I was to concerned in getting Pixie to the vet. I have just called them to report this, I know she apologized and said she is paying the vet bills, however I would like to see her get a nice big fine for being so stupid. She could have done much worse, what if it was a child, she could have killed it. She could have very easily killed my Pixie and myself. My biggest pet peeve is people who talk on the phone or text while driving, I hate that about as much as I hate drunk drivers and both are equally as dangerous. Thanks again for the prayers, she needs them right now. |
Glad to hear Pixie is out of surgery. We will keep praying for her. That was good you called the police. That way if she renigs on paying, there will be a record. Plus, hopefully she will get a fine for using cell while driving. |

I am so very glad Pixie is now in recovery! The liver can even regenerate, so there shouldn't be any residual or permanent effects from that. Did they have an orthopedic vet there to do the surgery on her leg? If not, in the next few days, have an xray done and sent to a Board Certified Orthopedic vet for a consult/2nd opinion. But don't worry about this now. You need (I'm guessing) to calm down and try to relax a bit. What's done is done, we can't go back to change things. Pixie sounds like she's getting great care, so take some time for yourself. You're probably still in shock from it all. Cup of tea, or your favorite drink, maybe have a neighbor or friend come sit with you (if you're alone) and just calm down. Sending Prayers, Love and Hugs, Kathy |
My vet actually specialized in orthopedics so that is a good thing. I am trying to relax as best I can but I will still be wound up until I am told she is out of danger. I am sitting at my computer trying to keep my mind busy but more often than not I am just staring blankly at the screen crying. Thanks again to all of you. |
I only now found this post. I am so very sorry that you are going through this so soon after the loss of your little man. Of course Pixie is in our prayers and will continue to be until she is home with you and right as rain. Hugs from all of us ♥ |
Shannon, my prayers are going up for Pixie and for you. You did the best thing - rushing her straight to the vet and getting her emergency surgery. Thank goodness she's got a good chance to make it because that vet went right to work. I wish people would realize that when they are behind the wheel they have a potential deadly weapon in their hands and not try to eat and drink, chat and text or shave or apply make-up while operating a vehicle. There are so many airheads out there behind the wheel nobody is safe! |
