| I'm sorry about your baby's paws. I think you might need to have your vet see her. I walked with my little girl a great deal, and she never had any problems. Her pads seemed fine. One day I let her pace for a few minutes (she was almost 17 and had dementia) on our brick patio. It was no longer than five minutes and I saw everything she did. The patio wasn't hot but the surface of the bricks are not smooth. Normal walking on the bricks never bothered her before. Her pads started to bleed, and I had to allow them to heal. I was very careful after that. You can try bag balm until you are able to see your vet. I don't know the surface you are walking on, but that could be the problem. Otherwise, I'd worry about what was causing it medically. I definitely would have bought Ashley boots or shoes had I known about them. They are also great if the road is hot. Below is a link to Karen's (AllDogBoots) site. She's a valued YT member, and I know she'd be very helpful. I hope her paws heal quickly. Dog Boots | Dog Shoes & Dog Booties

| I was going to suggest Bag Balm, too. I have used that stuff for everything such as dry skin, small cuts, chapped lips, diaper ointment, babies wind burned cheeks...I really think that would help as a temp. fix.

| If the skin is actually coming off then they may need to be treated & wrapped. I would say a vet visit is a must. |

| I agree with the others that a vet check is in order and consult Karen at AllDogBoots. Bag Balm worked on Max's cracked paw pad last summer. Be careful not to do anything or put anything on the pads that will soften them (no lotions or oils, for instance). The pads were intended to be rough for protection.

| Could there have been a lot of street salt where you walked? She needs to be seen by your vet and treated properly.

| I'm sorry your baby is going through this. While I, too recommend Bag Balm I would first recommend taking your dog to the vet because antibiotics may be necessary before using other ointments. My Max has cracked, dry pads. I apply Bag Balm to his paws and then he wears socks so he doesn't lick it off. Is the burn from hot flooring, salt or something else?

| The color changes you describe together with the obvious discomfort would suggest to me that this is a veterinary problem. She could have some type of beginning infection from an occult puncture wound or spider bite or something. Are they very warm to the touch?

| I would get her to the ER vet ASAP, if her feet have absorbed some chemical they will need to stop the reaction... anything you put on her make make it worse if you don't know what's causing it. And I aggree, antibiotics will probably be needed to stop any secondary infections.... I also suggest using a stroller till she's healed, that way you give her feet a break, but mentally she's still going for walks and will be just as happy!

| Bleach degrades to a salt compound when dry. If he used undiluted bleach and she walked on it while it was wet, maybe... she'll still need antibiotics to ward off any secondary infections... I've had undiluted bleach on my hands before and never had the skin peel off... I would think their feet are a bit tougher... plus you said you did wash her feet after coming inside... Also the bleach may have killed the natural bacteria on her feet leaving the area open to attack from other bacteria and germs.... I would want to be sure whatever process is causing this is stopped before too much of her pad is gone.... could possibly become very nasty...
