Just checking in for your poo post. Hope she is doing well today!

Bay is so hyper, that she will get her medicine and run all around and puke it up a few minutes later. It has happened twice now. But I know it doesn't happen when she is relaxed. I might have to kennel her for about 30 minutes after she gets it so it will stay down and obsorb or whatever it does! Had to give her some lactulose by mouth this afternoon, she had hard as a rock poo this morning, and it only got a little looser this afternoon. So hope she gets soft serve icecream texture later. I will give it about an hour. She needs it to come out no matter what, but doc says soft serve. Never knew I would have to talk about my dogs poop. Lol! Thank you again everyone! Hope we can stay on the right track!

Just wondering if your vet gave you any diet recommendations to help get that soft serve texture?

yes. i am feeding her low residue puppy food from iams. soaked down with water let it absorb it all in and then mix it up with the medicine. then make sure it is really wet, but not soup. secondary megacolon starves the colon of water, so it dehydrates her quick. so the lactulose is something that makes the colon feed itself water and nutriens, and stimulated it to contract. they were scared all of her nerves in there were gone. she had some problems all day today, but she did get into the dry cat food last night, and then she ate some random critters dropping outside, i couldn't get to it before she swallowed it. typical puppy behavior, has to eat everything. lol! make sure it is good! but, i am allowed to give her 1cc of lactalose every 6 hours. so i am almost at the soft serve stage, but not wnough where she is comfortable. she is straining a bit, so it has me highly concerned, but other then that she is doing fine! i plan to kennel her while the cats eat, and then let her out after. they are quick eaters! if you guys have any other questions ask away! it is always good to know the answers! as i am still learning! but, prey she gets soft serve! i want ice cream now! lol! j.k.! lol!

Well, it sounds like you have things under control. It's hard to stop those darn puppies from putting everything in their mouths. Shoot, I even wonder at some of the things my 4 year old yorkie will try to eat.

I have completely lost my m ind (or so I though) Im browsing through the general discussion board and I see a thread "Heres Basil.. Hot off the press" and Im thinking oh good an update!!!

So i am reading these posts and not recognising anyone and nothing is making sense there is no talk of poo and Im thinking what the heck :confused:

So I go to look at the original thread owner it is not our Sherri82 it is someone else, it then and only then that it dawns on me that there must be another Basil.

So there is my moment of confusion for the day just thought I would share and give you a laugh.

Funny! And yes, there are 2 Basil's. Only Sherri's is little girl "Baysil" and the other little guy is "Bazzle" but yes same spelling.

HaHa! Yep, 2 Basils. Such a cute and unique name and we have 2.
